I think there is a minimum post count (50?) to send or receive PMs to or from members.

torch, sounds like you definitely have lazy/lousy drivers....but YOU'RE the one who put them in the truck. the driver should NOT be the one running the show. tell them you have a delivery, they need to leave on sunday. they don't get to pick loads. either they're ready to roll or they're not. if not, they need to clean out the truck.

I never questioned the load I got - it never even occured to me. they dispatched me on the load that needed to be picked up/delivered, and I picked it up and did what they told me to with it. and I usually left on sunday to deliver my first load for the week. if you have sorry drivers who aren't getting the job done, you should be able to find plenty who are....unless you're looking for top notch drivers at 30 cents per mile.

basically it sounds like you're not hiring the right people, and then letting them do whatever after you hire them. that's a recipe for guaranteed failure.

in todays economy i would think there would be an abundance of qualified drivers seeking employment. in the last three weeks i have received approx 8 inquiries and only 2 applications. of those 2 only one was even worthy of consideration. as to pay i think that 30% of gross linehaul to truck is fair compensation. a smart driver should be able to schedule his loads, lanes, driving time, and speed, and be profitable. on % i don't control their rate of pay. prevailing freight prices and how and where they run does. so i don't think i am lowballing anyone. i can't respond to anyone cause i don't have enough posts but i am trying to figure that out now. i have heard from ridgerunner and eckz, but can't return contact. i don't feel comfortable with my contact info on forum.
