    Double dipper!:biggrin_25525:

I liked hauling Amtracs myself or Mark 7A1 for all military terms.

want to talk about "cutting corners". We were "taught" to toss a chain through the front tie downs and on the pintle in the back.

After we were "cut loose". I put two 1/2" chains on the front and two on the back. Just felt more comfortable that way.

We used 1/2" because that's what they gave us.

I had so many 1/2 chains at one time, people would look at them and ask why did I have them. Told them they came from a dumpster which was the truth, they were tossing them into a dumpster at Court House Bay beside the track house. Asked why and they said they had too many and had to get ride of them, being a Jarhead scrounger also I got permission and all I could carry went on the truck.

    MNdriver Thanks this.

Driver with a step deck pulled in while we were eating lunch today. Said he pulled a military equipment load from Albany, GA to Jacksonville, NC, paid $2500 to the truck. I wouldn't call that cheap, myself... but what do I know?

I pulled a flatbed to start with. A lot of places you could go either trailer. With levelers, we had a lot of guys hauling extruded metals just like a flat with no issues.

With a step though, they could haul equipment we couldn't touch with a flat.

As I said, I would look at doing this as an Independent, not leased on to anyone.

K, thanks for the info. Based upon what your saying I would go with the 53 step and Im still not totally sold on the need for ramps and /or levelers as I carry none and have no problem but I do have a kick butt agent too.
