I have a 1998 Freightliner Century. With DD S60 500hp, 13 speed, 24.5 tires. In the last 240,000 miles the only thing that we replaced was alternator and fuel return hose $400. My 1998 FLD with similar speck cost me almost $12,000 in repairs for the first 8 months or so.
Older truck is better for ease in maintenance no computers etc. The engines might be easier to repair however when all of those air hoses and wires start to go that's when the costs skyrocket.Last edited: Jan 18, 2010

You are way off on this . True hotshot is expedited flatbed loads like a piece of machinery needed for a production line that's down . Cars are not hotshot freight . As long as the GVWR stays under 26,000 lbs. they don't need CDL A's either . I know a lot of them that don't have it .

While what you are saying is true. If you ask most drivers hauling cars behind a 1 ton truck they will call themselves hotshot drivers. I'm not saying that's right I'm just saying that's usually what they'll call themselves where I'm from. But thank you for a better understanding of a true hotshot.

Dr Demented Thanks this. -
Your welcome . There have been discussions on this here and other forums as to what defined hotshot . It's not the type truck . It's the type load . Just FYI I'm a moderator on a hotshot forum .
