Yea,I agree.....My voice is on the deep side that is why i think the 636 and Ranger is better fitted to me.
My buddy had feedback on his radio. We tried the RK 56 and the 636....a little better but still had feedback.
He put on a Ranger and no feedback at all with the mic gain all the way up.
Good mics?

Thanks for the Shure 577B mike idea. Im always looking for a "better way". I dont mind spending some extra money, if i get something for it. I am running a Connex 4600 and Ranger 6300 with RK56 mikes. Without checking, i believe the mike is four wire?
Now the question... Anything special to wiring a 577B to these radios?
Thanks for your time and info!

You have to take the 577b apart and rewire it. Plus they sound better if you install the transformer and .1uF poly cap from an RK56 inside. This is how Mike5511's is wired. I bought a half dozen and converted them in 1994, plus a 488T. 4 of them failed, most just sitting in their boxes. The fine wires coming from the element inside the baffle assembly open from a chemical reaction between the ultrafine wire and a glue used in assembly. Had to Dremel the machine pressed ridge on one to investigate this. Very hard to get apart and no way to repair, I just wanted to know why they failed for no reason. Was really infuriating considering the cost. Do not know if the Shure Brothers ever did something to correct that defect as I never bought any more. A friend gave me about a dozen of the elements to repair mine and all but one of them had open voice coils as well. Unless Shure has repaired this issue it's a lot of money to risk. Buy 6, 10 years later only 2 work. Oddly the ones never used, kept as spares, failed first.

If your speaker is "under the hood" in a confined space like the engine compartment, it is prone to feedback more than being out in the open. A mic may not have anything to do with that. You may have to back off on your gain some, and move your speaker somewhere else..

I did not carefully go through all 3 pages but I do not recall the mention of what kind of speaker. It should be an actual PA horn type facing forward, not a regular speaker. A PA horn will reduce audio back into the vehicle thus reducing feedback.
