If not, it was taking the longest way around.FerrissWheel Thanks this.

When I was in high school I wanted to 'take the long way around' so I planned a trip to see at least one airport in every continental state that United went to, plus Hawaii, with the lowest layover time possible.
And never going to the same airport more than once except for departure and arrival.
My dad worked for United Airlines with well over 20 years seniority, so we had unlimited passes.
Heck, we went to Hawaii once a month because my dad liked it there. Other weekends we went somewhere else.
I got the big book, the one showing every flight to everywhere.
After a couple weeks of work I got it down on paper.
It turned out that the trip would take a bit more than 3 weeks time, and all on one pass because it was a multi-stop trip. Maximum layover was around 4 hours.
My dad was so impressed that he actually brought the itinerary in and had the ticket drawn up.
It was nearly an inch thick, and must have been a nightmare for the person typing it in.
I never did get the chance to actually use it, darn it.
The ticket cost me nothing, but the cost of the actual trip I could not afford.
Logistics, anyone?FerrissWheel and dwells40 Thank this. -
The only single stop i could think of would be Alaska to East coast. At least in North America. Granted i didn't think we did that, but then i didn't think we did OSOW of any signifigance till i did it.Moosetek13 Thanks this.

Seems rather silly to hide the option when the engine is not running.
If the engine is off, no one is moving.

Home again, home again...
I had a 1000 drop at a Costco that turned into a live unload, that then turned back to a drop if I would pull a trailer of pallets from the dock and then drop it there.
There was an mt parked along the driveway that I could take.
I avoided a last minute pplan that picked up at the IGH terminal (now just a drop yard).
A live unload at a grocery place. The scheduled delivery wasn't for 2 days, and the customer said that I would be a work in if delivered today.
No thanks. Those short loads on my home time loads have been paying base cpm, with no short haul pay to boot. Why would I spend hours at a receiver for $20??!
I probably wouldn't even get detention since it was delivering early. Even if I did, it would not be worth it.
I seem to always get Costco loads out of Morris, IL for my home times now.
Often they come with a pallet load out, also given at the last minute. Always a drop.
I don't mind that so much because the receiver is usually closer to home that when I have to bring my mt back to the yard.
The load assignment says that we are not allowed to bobtail out, we must take an mt. But I never do when I am heading home.
I got home 1 day before my request date. And early enough so I could cook dinner.
That was nice, because that was the only day in that time frame the whole family could make it over for dinner.FerrissWheel and Cabinover101 Thank this.
