I hate moving to a new truck.
But it does mean getting rid of a lot of old junk that was hanging around.
And it means getting used to, and dealing with, new truck foibles.
Like, a constant beeping when the truck is turned off.
BEEP.... BEEP... BEEP...
Every 15-30 seconds it beeps, when everything is off.
I can get around it by using the battery shutoff switch. Shut it off for 30 seconds or so and turn it back on and no more beeping, until I run the engine again.
Pain in the a..
Among other things these newer trucks do,
And I have moved to a new truck in that kind of heat... Phoenix.
Not fun at all.
And it is like they expect me to move everything over to the new truck and be ready for a load in an hour!
That didn't happen.

I had a hard braking event today.
And it wasn't really even that.
Traffic ahead of me started to slow down, so I gave it some brake. Nothing much happened, probably because they were wet from the rain, so I applied a bit more pressure.
The drives locked up for a split second and it triggered the event.
I am bobtail, so not much weight back there.
My last load and this load is picking up new trailers at Wabash in IN and delivering them to the Costco DC in Morris, IL.FerrissWheel and dptrucker Thank this. -

I can't do that.
I can only get my shower when I stop for the day.
Waking up that much earlier is too hard. It would throw me off for the rest of the day.FerrissWheel and dptrucker Thank this. -
Is it really that hard to wake up early?

and I won't take a shower here at the terminal unless it's drastic lolFerrissWheel Thanks this. -
I NEVER shower at a terminal.
I learned that in my first year when I did it at that far southern TX terminal.
It was the only time I got foot fungus.
Never again, because they are not cleaned and sanitized between each user.FerrissWheel and dptrucker Thank this. -
I moved 2 new trailers from Wabash to the Costco DC in Morris.
I wasn't the only one. Many have come in.
They only have a temp registration which expires at the end of the year and no plates yet.
I had assumed that the Swift people here would be going over them and getting them to be actually road ready before they went out, but it is not so. No bill boxes yet, or hazmat placards, or plates.
I am pulling one now up to MN. It seems Swift and Costco are just fine with it, so...
I did make sure it had the registration paper before I left with it, because we were given no instructions about it at all.
I'm rather wondering how Swift is going to round up all these trailers at the end of the year to get the new registration and put the plates on.
And every one I have seen has been a roll door. Super singles for the tires as well.FerrissWheel Thanks this.
