On my old freightliner had to keep the truck in opti idle mode for the bunk heater to stay on. Otherwise you could turn it on and it would turn off in about 5 minutes.

My truck does not have opti-idle.
I guess Swift went cheap with this 2020 truck.

I have never had a truck with opti-idle.
    Just more restrictions on idling.

I think the same heating and cooling restrictions should be imposed on these people in their own homes.
Make it so they can not turn the heat up if the sensor registers above 34 degrees, then make the sensor read about 10 degrees above what it actually is.
Give them a 'bunk heater' that shuts off after a few minutes, just to keep them cold all the time.

    D.Tibbitt and navypoppop Thank this.

Yes they should all work the same, one I have now is like it supposed to work with truck off and cycles on/off based on temp. One thing I was thinking about recently was how each model of truck differs, I have the smart idle on the current truck it starts with no key just to charge or for cooling reasons. A bit better than opti idle, uses a tablet installed in sleeper with a kill switch on front dash to disable the auto starting for when in shop.

Life was real simple back in the 70s and 80s. Idle to keep warm or cool, no sensors telling you if anything is close or your brakes slamming on if it detects a shadow in front of you, cameras watching the road or you and electric logs to keep you legal. But at least they are telling you that a fat bonus and $100,000 a year is waiting for you. I'll take the 70s anyday.

Well I graduated high school in '74 but didn't start driving a truck until 2010, so I don;t know how it was back 'in the day'.
Still, it is different now than back in 2010, and most of it applies.

But I can appreciate some of the changes. Not all, but some.

Denver dl decided it was better to switch here since he was worried if codot would shut Glenwood cyn down due to snow.
my switch driver will be here 4.5 hrs later than me due to truck issues on Sunday. he didn't leave beavervtilk 1400.
so got a late start today.

    Amazing.
I got hit with a safety point for following too closely.
The video shows me at a stop light, and the light just turned green. I am behind a car that is accelerating away from me, I am accelerating as well - obviously.
    That was it.

Morris, IL at the TA tonight.
Sam's Club in Oswego would not give me an mt, so we'll see how this goes. The last time I was in this area with no mt I spent a few hours chasing down ghosts before I was finally sent in bt.

    beaver ut at ernies.
load I got from other driver in Lupton az was a bit heavy on the nose.
he fled and said his weight gauge showed it was overweight. so he moved tandem forward one hole. as far as it will go. said he thought it be ok.
asked him if he went and scaled it. said no. uggghh.
his fuel was 5/8 and kingpin was at 3-4 hole.
lucky the scalehouse west of Lupton az was closed.
got to the loves at exit 9 on i40 and I scaled it
drives were 33940. tandem were 28000 something
my fuel guage was at 3/8 and my kingpin set at 2 and 3 hole.
called him and nicely told him what it read.
I politely told him this gonna be last time I will be nice.
couldn't fuel. wasn't going to crank the trailer up to move 5th wheel one hole.
so went to terminal for the nite.
delivered the load. a live unload.
then went tonfontana yard to fuel b4 picking this.load up in San Bernardino.
he sat for 3 hrs yesterday due to truck wouldn't start.
he finally got it going and got to Denver a bit after 2300.
shop said his truck needs a starter.
so he got a loaner and will get here late again..
    in got here around 2000

    dwells40 Thanks this.

DP, it seems you have such trouble running that relay stuff.
Why do you stick with it?
