Baxter, MN at the rest area.

I like the drive up here, and this rest area. It is nicer than most. It even has warm water.

Several Owatonna Costco loads in a row, all of them late when dispatched.
I delivered my 1400 scheduled load at 1700, and he was rather surprised to see me.
He had 2 other loads that were coming in at around 1900 that were scheduled well before mine.

My load to Sioux Falls, SD yesterday turned out to be an extended stay.
I got that (the day before) 1400 scheduled load there at 1800. They had no mt trailer and it would have been around 2200 when they could live unload me, which was well past my 14 hour clock. We agreed that I would come back this morning, and I had an mt waiting for me.
I was told there were 2 wet loads from 2 days ago that still had not left Owatonna.

The Morris Costco never seems to have the problems that Owatonna seems always to have.

I woke up to no pplan, and nothing has come in so far.
    Easter Sunday, go figure.

I was out of milk so I headed to the Walmart in Little Falls.
They were out of whole milk except for gallon size, which is too big.
Went down to the small truck stop at the corner and grabbed the last quart of whole milk they had.

I guess Costco is not the only one having problems getting some of that cold dairy product delivered.

Gotta love how those Costco loads are scheduled.
A 1500 pick up with a delivery the next morning at 0700, over 300 miles away.
The only way to get it there on time is to wait until around midnight to pick it up and drive all night.
Some with the same pick up time deliver at 0500.
They should have those loads ready by 1000 or so, not 1500. I always counter them with a much later delivery time.

The next pplan was to the same Costco in Omaha but it delivers at 1400. That one I took.
My only problem with this load is the high winds preventing me from picking it up today.
45-50 gusts and nearly a direct cross wind once I start heading south.
I shut down in Clearwater, MN.
If I start driving at 0530 I'll still make the delivery on time.

Maquoketa, IA at the Kwik Star.

Friday afternoon and my next load does not pick up until Sunday in Joliet, IL.

I am down to the wire for a b-service and my next load will be sure to put me on safety hold, and this load the the soonest load that can get me to Columbus to get it done.

I had asked my DM to get me to Columbus because it is a bit further away, and I'll be going on home time as soon as the service is done.
All the extra miles I can squeeze out the better.
And Columbus should be able to fix the stuff my terminal can't and that Gary screwed up.

There is a Walmart across the street, but it really isn't good for trucks.
But right next door is a Dollar Fresh. I had never heard of it before but I checked it out.
Not dollar in anything but the name, but they had pretty much all I needed.

    Goldenfan and dptrucker Thank this.

Hy Vee grocery stores own Dollar Fresh. They bought up a lot of the old Shopko stores that were in the smaller towns like Maquoketa and turned then into smaller versions of Hy Vee. They have most stuff but Hy Vee isn't known for being as affordable (cheap)as most stores.
I have a special place in my heart for Maquoketa, as I spent many Sunday's there growing up. My dad had an old friend that lived on Otto street that he worked with for years. They also logged and commercial fished together.
You seem to have a good running area with Swift on the great lakes regional account.

Well, this is one home time I will not make on time.

My home time is set for Wednesday the 27th, but my truck is due for a b-service. I ran out of miles today.
We had planned to schedule me at Columbus on Tuesday, but found out today the earliest appointment is Wednesday.

I'm currently in Dayton, but no longer deadheading to Columbus.
I asked my DM to check with Manteno to see if I could get in there on Wednesday. That would prevent me from sitting an extra day and get me closer to home.
That worked out. I have a 0900 appointment Wednesday for the service at Manteno, and a load t-calling there tomorrow.

I like the Manteno shop. They have good people there.

    dptrucker Thanks this.

    Still at Manteno.
My truck is done except for the windshield. It has a very long crack.
Trouble is they use Safelite to do the work and the contract says a 24 hour turnaround time.
They were called at around 0800 this morning and didn't get here today. So hopefully they will be here by 0800 tomorrow.

The mechanic here had nothing good to say about the shop at Gary.
They messed up the PassSmart in my truck, which he was trying to fix; but they also changed the password for some reason.
He was waiting to hear back on the new password. I hope he finally got it.
I'll never take my truck to the Gary shop again. They seem to be boneheads.

I took it there last time because they could do the wheel alignment.
They can do it here as well, but my DM was unaware of that fact.
They don't have a machine to do it, they do it old-school.

    dptrucker Thanks this.
