So do you have any control over the loads you run, or do they just make you do whatever they want?

I had a delivery today in Chicago for that super high value load.
Last night I was at Manteno because they would not let me park at a truck stop with that load.
(It was a load of old invoices, but it was treated like gold.)

This place is why I try to avoid loads to Chicago.
I pull in to the narrow road to a gate. Looking ahead I could see very little room to go anywhere, much less back in to the dock which was about 210 degrees from my heading.
There were cars lining both sides of the street, and both sides inside the gate except for the dock area.

But the guy that unloads the trailer was very good.
He suggested a couple options that other drivers have used.
He spotted for me and made several suggestions along the way.
After at least a dozen times to get out and look, and about half an hour of being within 6 or 7 inches of the cars, I had it in the dock.
    It was all blind side.

All that might have been avoided with some better instructions in the mac 23.
If I had been told that there was a side road to the right just as I made the turn on that street to pull in to, then back in to the gate area (sight side this time)...
I could have simply backed up to the gate and in to the dock with no problem.
Just as easy as getting out of the place.

That was one way the unloader told me, but since I was already head first into the gate it would mean a blind side onto that road, then pulling out into the main road as he stopped traffic so I could back up to the gate.

No bad weather here in SD, but at 45 degrees it is a little chilly.

No bunk heater in my truck, until it can get installed at a terminal.
How strange is that, that they order these trucks without a bunk heater?
Is it cheaper to wait and install it at a shop?

Tonight I set the Opti-Idle but I could not get it to turn on to give me some heat.
I started the truck to get some heat, and it stayed idling for nearly an hour. Then it did the shut down thing.
A bit later I started it up again, and it is still running - at 45 degrees.

I have a B-service scheduled for Sunday morning at the Gary terminal. I will also be requesting the bunk heater install.
Let's see if they have one on hand.

    dptrucker Thanks this.

Factory bunk heater is probably part of package that includes other things Swift doesn't want to pay for.

    Moosetek13 and dptrucker Thank this.
