I finally got home yesterday... 2 days late to my requested day.
The load I had that would have gotten me there only 1 day late was 'cancelled by the shipper'. The next available load made me 2 days late.

Not that big of a deal to me, this time, except for messing up a paycheck because of how the week is split up.
But it was to my DM.
It seems many of his drivers get hosed on their home time dates by these late week shifts in loads.
He is off on Friday so he can't keep track of drivers getting home on the weekend as scheduled. Planners take the home time load away from the driver and give it to someone else, leaving that driver in limbo.

Last week he was telling me about how 5 drivers were hosed on their home time, which he only found out about when he came back to work Sunday.
This week it was several more. And they were all rescheduled on Friday when he is off.

But I did get back in time to get my DOT physical done on time. It expires on the 21st and I got it done on the 18th.
It was nice to be able to do it here when I am on home time, so I could walk in to the DMV to submit it. The past few years I have had to submit the forms online, and that is a real pain.

Plenty of CerteDrive clinics around here to do it.
And they were great, for the most part. No wait to get in, but they did rush me around so much at first that my BP spiked pretty high. I finally had to tell the nurse to let me be for a bit so I could get a normal reading.

On the road again, and with a very nice load.

Picked up in Perham, MN going to Springfield, OH, about 1100 miles total.
I don't see miles like that very often.
It was a live load, and she took all of 10 minutes to get me loaded. Not much in there and very light.

    dptrucker and dwells40 Thank this.

I just pulled in to the Love's in Plymouth, IN. There is almost no one here.
I love this time of year.

    Greenfield, IN at the Pilot.

One thing I dread is a live unload at Amazon, especially late in the day. This one was at 1900.
I was very surprised when they had me finished at 2100. The Amazon in Joliet, IL always takes 6-8 hours for a live unload.

So I got here at the Pilot at about 2115, and all the reserved spaces were occupied. I went inside to check in and let the manager know. He already had someone out there making people move, so I was parked by 2130.
It sure is nice when they will actually enforce the rules.

During that Amazon load I was stacked with 2 pplans.
I had called the planner to let him know that I probably could not make the delivery on time at the first one because of the live unload, and asked if I could just take the second plan. Not a problem.

That second plan is a Lowe's load going from Rockford, IL to Wichita, KS.
That is nearly 1,000 miles total, so, very nice.
But I delivered at Amazon Thursday night and this load delivers Monday at 1300.
The planner had told me that loads were very scarce this weekend so I dared not turn it down.
That first plan that I could not do was actually on my way to Rockford, so I didn't even lose any miles in the end.

And I'm already set up with my next load, this one 700 miles. So it is a good start for the week.

    jurupa valley at home.
had a 7am live unload at a wine warehouse in commerce ca.
checked in and receiver said guy waiting for dock had the same p.o. number as mine.
    driver was from another company.
picked my load up from terminal.
talked to the driver to let him know and he said he had picked it up at same place mine was picked up at.
called csr and told him what was going on and he said to wait and he look into it.
waited about an hour with no responce so sent a message for an update
he came back and noone was reponding so to tcall it back to terminal.
first time this ever happened to me lol.
receiver didnt want to break the seal to see what was actually loaded in my trailer just in case it was the same load.
he thought that shipper gave one of us the wromg b.o.l.
simce the other driver was in line first they took his load.

I've had that happen, but it is usually caught at the shippers end.

I got to my pick up today and was told it had been cancelled. She said another Swift driver came in earlier to another cancelled load.
I had actually gotten 2 pplans to stack me, but I turned down the second with a counter offer.
I noticed the trailer number of that second pplan at the shipper. It had been flagged with a red tag that said something about a product hold and do not ship.
There were a lot of trailers with those tags, so maybe they had a bad batch last week.
The shipper said the loads had been cancelled last week, but I guess Swift was never told.

    now the b.s. starts
got to amazon at 0700. didnt get called for a door till 1000.
walked back to receiving ro get update at 1330. guy said 25 % left. be about ankther 2 hrs maybe less. had only one person unloading.
shipper loaded it with a clamp forklift. amazon didnt have a driver there so they were u loading by hand.
#####ed to dl about the delay and she said if not done by 1430 call her back and she tcall it .
so i gave it to 1530 simce the guy said 2 hrs and now the lasy said a third of the load is left and it mite take abit.

I think Amazon is the quintessential prime example of a love/hate relationship.
