Columbus, terminal.
I came in for a b-service but there is a recall on my truck.
The rocker arm has to be replaced so it doesn't end up sucking a valve into the chamber.
The dealer tech here at the terminal says he can get to it Monday, so I am sitting for the weekend.

The Freightliner guy at the terminal called in sick yesterday and today, so they sent my truck to the dealer.
They said they can get it in today sometime but it will be late tonight when it's done. So I am at a Super 8 in Columbus. -
So they finally sent me to the dealer for the recall repair (after 5 days of sitting at the terminal) and when I get the truck back so many things are out of whack.
They (Freightliner) reset many settings in the computer. I no longer have PasSmart, the idle speed was reset to a lower RPM (when the higher RPM set by the last Freightliner dealer was to aid in top end lubrication for the cylinder bridge problem), and the Zonar no longer sees the odometer mileage on the truck (it zeroed out and is now just accumulating miles from 0).
The Columbus shop flagged one of my drive tires to be replaced, but never put it on the work order. They signed off on the truck and released me, then someone called me after I was dispatched on my next load telling me that they could not complete the DOT inspection form until I had the tire replaced, and to get it somewhere to replace the tire.
I got the tire replaced today at a Love's after my delivery, but I still have to get in to a terminal shop, or maybe again a Freightliner shop, to fix the link between the Zonar and the truck. And to get the other things fixed.
Almost a week sitting, and I still need more shop time.
The Columbus shop could have sent me to the dealer the next day, instead of making me sit for 5 days simply because they wanted the in-house Freightliner guy to do the work. They could also have replaced that drive tire in the many days that I was sitting there.
My home time was set for today, but I won't get home until Sunday, so nixing any plans I had made for the weekend with my family.
Two home times in a row now, when I set it for Friday and get home Sunday.dptrucker Thanks this. -
my truck still in shop too.
went to the inhouse freightliner for a oil leak somewhere. they should have bwen done yesterday and our shop still has a coupke things to fix broken spring in the 5th wheel and front wheel seals leaks.
didnt check yesterday if it was done sibceci got back lateMoosetek13 Thanks this. -
Home again, home again...
So nice.
When I had finally gotten back on the road my TM messaged me asking if I still wanted home time with all that down time.
? Really?
I said yes, I want my home time.
Being down for nearly a week does not do away with my desire to be home for a few days, after being out more than a month. I don't need the money that badly.
All the concern about my productivity would have been a moot point if I had been sent to the dealer in the first place.dptrucker, JOHNQPUBLIC and dwells40 Thank this. -

didnt have muxlch stuff in loaner anywaysMoosetek13 Thanks this. -
How much stuff do you have in your regular truck, and did you take most of it with you?
My thing with loaners is that I feel I need to basically move everything over to the loaner, because I might need any or all of it at some point in the loaner journey.dptrucker and JOHNQPUBLIC Thank this.
