I got to the doctor today.
All went well. There are no breaks but there is some trauma. He said I need an MRI to see if something is torn, but they could not do it right away. They have to be scheduled, so I will have to get that done when I get back home.

Here is a warning to anyone that has this type of thing happen.
When I called for a ride back to my truck I was told I was not allowed back in the truck, even to get my stuff out. Someone would have to do it for me.
    It's an insurance thing.
I let them know I was not happy about that, and I had no intention of letting someone else rummage around in my personal stuff. They said it was not negotiable. The insurance company would not allow it.

I pointed out that the doctor wrote on the report that I could drive the truck, just not with a trailer. I was told that they don't want me back in the truck at all with the injury. (And they could have told me that before I went to the doctor so I could have packed up some stuff and been ready, because they KNEW they would be doing this before the fact.)

The plan was for someone to come out from St. Louis terminal to pick me up and get me back to the truck to get my stuff out, but that I could not get in the truck.

I was sitting at the hospital for hours waiting for updates.
Then I was told that a hotel room was reserved for me and a Lyft driver would be picking me up, taking me to my truck to get some things, then taking me to the hotel.
Perhaps they could not find someone to come 120 miles from St. Louis this afternoon, so it worked out in my favor.
They had to find a place for me to sleep tonight and a Lyft driver is not going to fight with me about getting a few things out of my truck.

Tomorrow the plan is to drive me back to St. Louis while another driver drives my truck back. Then I could get more stuff out (or maybe have more stuff taken out if I am not allowed in the truck?), and they would start working on finding me a way home.

My sister had a better idea.
She will drive down here to get me.
Hannibal is 420 miles from home, while St. Louis is around 550.
If I stay here another day my sister can be here by tomorrow afternoon. We'll go to the truck and get my stuff out and she will drive me home, while they can drive my truck back to St. Louis after we are done and not have to worry about getting me home.

I got a call from someone at workman's comp this evening. It sounds like they won't be approving a claim for this injury because I was not on duty or doing work related things when it happened.
No official word yet, as that will come in the mail. But that is how she sounded.

My sister got in Hannibal yesterday afternoon and I got her a room there. We went to the truck this morning and got most of what I needed.
Most, because I forgot a couple places to clean out. Oh Well, maybe when they take the truck they can mail those few things to me.

Then the drive home, and I am home now.
We got home at around 1630.

Now comes the longer part of doctor visits, possible surgery, and what might be a long road to being functional again.

This is what is on the WI WC website:
If you work only in one place, such as a factory, store or office, your injury will usually be covered only if it occurs at work. If your work requires travel, you are covered at all times while traveling, including the time you are eating or sleeping, unless you deviate from regular work duties for a private or personal reason.

I think that makes it pretty clear that I am covered.

And I got in to the doctor here this morning. They took new x-rays and checked it out.
I am scheduled for a MRI this afternoon.
I was given crutches and a new brace that immobilizes my knee.

At the end of the test results it said this:
Possible tearing of the left quadriceps tendon can be better characterized with MRI.

Well, I'd say that if you're on THEIR truck and you are responsible for THEIR truck, regardless if you're on duty or not, it is THEIR problem.
