15 minutes or so to brown the rice, then about 45 minutes to cook.

if its a can of soup you can put a little water in it and just stick the whole can, I heat can soup up with boiling water on my butane stove though, it boils within a couple minutes then I shut it off and let it sit for a few minutes, open the can and stick the contents in a Styrofoam bowl and voila no dishes.

Exton, PA after a long night at a Target.
I 'helped out' for a couple Target loads.
The first 'had' to be delivered by 0200, so it was. I then waited until after 0300 for someone to show up.
See, I wasn't given a king pin lock key. So I had to wait until people came in to work to remove the lock from the trailer I was switching out.
I had asked for one before I left the DC, but I was told they didn't have any spares.
I told them that I would be out of hours when I got there.
There response was telling me that they would wake me if I was on my 10, and I could just swap the trailers and go back to sleep - and no need to even go on-duty.
Well, I went on-duty to swap the trailers that night - and started my 10 after I finished.
I didn't like it though. I should have been on the drive line.
Then I get stuck with a second load to this other store.
This one 'had' to be here by 1159.
Again, no key for the lock, and again the staff doesn't come in until around 0400.
And again I'm asked to just swap them out when needed and don't go on-duty.
This time I had another problem - as I was turning in the parking lot my red air line broke. I dragged the trailer around to the side of the building near the dock so it wouldn't be in the main drive.
I call the Swift guy in charge of the account before I called on-road, because he had left a message on my phone about needing some info.
He also wanted me to swap trailers while off-duty at 0400, even though it would be after my 14 expired. This time I said no.
And after hearing about the air line he arranged for another driver to come and swap the trailers for me as I was awaiting repair.
'We all work together...'
After I called on-road I went off duty. I stayed that way for several hours until on-road got me fixed and the other driver switched the trailers.
Then I went on-duty to log my post trip and e-call.
Then into sleeper.
A bit later I get a message telling me to correct my logs to show on-duty when performing working activity at the customer.
Too late. I approved them as soon as I went into sleeper.
It's really funny how 'they' ask you to fudge in certain ways, then others of 'them' want even more than is required.
I was not performing working activity while I was sitting around waiting for someone to show up to perform a task, or while I was cooking my dinner and eating it, or watching a show or two on my computer, or watching as the air line was being fixed or the other driver was playing musical chairs with trailers.
Anyway, I'll not accept another of these dedicated Target loads.
Their system works great for them - but as an OTR driver helping out, it is WAY too much of a pain in the backside because we are blindsided way too much. -
im surprised they dont get in trouble with drivers doing that kind of stuff, I know our boss is strict about being legal and logging. I would not help out either in those situations especially if they cant even get you a key.
I volunteered to be off today since there were 19 drivers and only 15 loads including local stuff, not worth my time to sit around idling for a short load so now im home. -
Just dropped our last Central trailer at the Lathrup, CA ... Good Night!

I delivered a load to Target in Logan, UT last summer with a 23:59 deadline (my second solo load). Arrived on time only to pound on the door and ring the bell and call the customer phone number for over an hour before someone finally came to the door. I could hear them working inside the warehouse. They HAD to know someone was ringing the bell and pounding on the door. Nobody bothered to answer for an hour. The only good thing is that the live unload turned out to be a drop, with no empty, so I easily bobtailed to the Walmart for my 10.
