At the Love's north of Las Vegas. I deliver my 2-stop Costco load in the morning then over to Clearwater Paper in North Las Vegas for yet ANOTHER paper load (third in a row). This one is headed to Safeway in Tracy, CA. Delivery time is 2200 on the Wednesday. I ALMOST turned it down KNOWING that Safeway with take a MINIMUM of 3-4 hours to unload me. Then I re-read the comments and they said I could drop the loaded trailer at the assigned door, grab an MT and LEAVE!
That's one way to eliminate detention pay!

It's a pretty drive, and usually a quick drop and hook.
But I agree about going there in the winter.
Or when I might be short on hours when I get there. I'd hate to be stuck there for a 10 and the nearest truck stop is over an hour away. -
What a coincidence that's the same trailer I hauled earlier this year. You're probably delivering it to the owner at his residence I assume.
-
Coming up out of there was the ONLY time I looked forward to getting onto I-68!

Got my loads done and made it back with 17min left on my 11, this was a really good week and I ran hard getting almost 3k miles in 5 days. Now its time to relax on my days off, spent some extra time tidying my truck since they asked me if it would be ok if I let a driver use my truck tomorrow to do a round trip to vegas since we have a couple trucks broke down and I said sure since I trust a few of the drivers just not the new ones. I dont leave anything of high value since my laptop and bpap travels with me, only the cb I leave and I can care less if the driver wants to use that.

Hiding out at Morton's truck stop (I-15 exit 46) in Las Vegas.
I delivered both of my Costco stops this morning then decided to see if my Clearwater paper load was ready (early). I was told that not only wasn't it ready but that they were running behind and to come back about 6:00 pm. Since my dispatch says 1500 that's when I'll return and sit if I have to. At least I'm only a mile away.
So far that's been the story with every load this week, too much time! I'd rather have to scramble to make it on time.
Oh well! -
It turned out to be a little building with a little lot with a couple other trailers sitting there.
No phone number to call for directions and no directions from Swift.
The GPS had me turn onto the street, but as soon as I began the turn I saw another Dunlop trailer in a lot to my right just past the turn.
It was too late at that point and I had to make the turn. I went up the road a bit until I could turn around, at which point the red air line blew.
The wood blocks that I had to stow on the catwalk interfered with the trailer, the line got caught and it ripped. The catwalk was dented in as well.
So I traded the blue line to get me back to the little lot so I could drop it. No one was there, the guy is in Belgium.
A call to on-road and I was sent to a truck stop about 35 miles away to get it fixed.
But the GPS routed me wrong and I ended up getting on the turnpike. I figured I would just go to the next exit and turn around, but the next exit was 35 miles away!
So over an hour wasted just getting back.
I finally got the line fixed and then waited for Swift to pay for it.
And waited some more.
After about 45 minutes the guy in the shop cut me loose, saying he would get paid eventually.
By the time I got here to Parsons and got my load, I have 6 minutes left on my 70.
Less than 8 hours coming in tomorrow, and the trip is a bit longer than loaded miles indicated.
Loaded miles, 451. GPS miles ranges between 523 and 540, depending on the settings and if it is my RM520 or the QC - and none of it matches my fuel route, so I have no idea exactly how far I'll be going.
Needless to say, I'll probably be a couple hours later than they want.
Make me drive 20% further and it'll take at least 20% longer.
So I'm stuck here at Kingsford for the night. But at least I have some good food in the truck for dinner.
Salmon, green beans and Rice-a-Roni. Yum. -
Los Cruces, NM. Just hooked up a MAC 30 load from the yard to Houston for Thursday. Nice lite Ross load.

For future reference, in the unlikely event you are hauling that trailer again (maybe someone else on the forum will) , you can put those wooden blocks in the storage compartment on the very nose of that trailer. That's where I put them when I hauled it, unless for some reason it was locked when you got ahold of it.Moosetek13 Thanks this.
