Weird day. I took over NW of Fort Worth and made it past Fort Collins, almost to the Wyoming border. I woke up to my trainee telling me he had a critical event!? He received a MESSAGE on Qualcomm that he had a critical event and had to call. This was just after he applied brakes to avoid hitting a car that almost came to a stop on the highway in the middle of the night.
He tried calling on his 30 minute break without success. Finally during our change over he got through with his speaker phone on. The lady seemed confused why we were calling, noted the information and said Safety would call if they wanted to follow up.
The thing is at no time did the warning icon light up or the voice indicate any critical event. Only the inbox message, without indicating WHAT the event was.
After that we received DOZENS of messages. I assumed the person we talked to forgot to turn off the reminder and didn't log our call. I tried three times during the day to get through. Finally the person I talked to said we indeed were lighting up the board with critical events, but nothing was registering in terms of what kind of event.
After we deliver our load tomorrow in Saint Helens, OR we have to take the truck to the shop in Troutdale to have them check the system.HousTank Thanks this. -
Taking a 34 at Paso Junction in Pratt, KS. I was expecting the mothership to be nagging be by now ... but nope ... still nothing. BTW, the men's sit down stall has no door here ... creepy. Tomorrow at 6am I'm off to Calexico, CA. Weeeeeee!

So you were woke up by your trainee telling you something, not by a sudden deceleration from a braking event?
Doesn't sound SO severe to me.
If your trainee had to brake THAT hard, you would have been thrown around so much that you would have been yelling 'WHAT THE HE#@!^ is gong on!!!.
Yup, sounds like a bad sensor to me.
I actually SLAMMED my brakes once, and no critical event was ever reported. Stuff actually flew off the shelves and out of the bunk!
My laptop ended up on the floor, from under a folded blanket on the mattress.
Maybe I also had a bad sensor, but in the opposite way?
Just gotta love the new electronics in these new trucks...
10% of the time they might help us, but 90% of the time they fail us. -
By the way, I'm in Denver for some home time with my girls.
Birthday gifts for two of them, and they wanted some Nerf Guns to fight each other with.
They each chose a Nerf Bow (as in, arrows...), and I've yet to find out who won the first round.
My youngest said that she wanted some practice before engaging in battle. LOL
My truck is in the shop for a B-service and a couple of other things, so I'm staying at the Super-8 for a few nights.
The Denver terminal was a nightmare!
All the bobtail parking was completely full, and trailers were SO stacked up!
I went around a few times until I found a space I could park in. It had just opened up, and I got real lucky.
Every row was at least two deep behind other trailers. I've seldom seen it this bad.
The yard dogs were no help at all. There were a few spaces that they could have moved trailers to, to make more room. But they just seemed to be driving around doing nothing.
I was lucky that I needed a service done. I just headed to the shop, and then parked in the LAST available service parking space.
That terminal is really getting out of hand. Swift either needs to expand it or relocate it to a bigger and better place.
And it's not like there is not enough room around the terminal, or Denver, to do that! -
Heck if they would just dispose of the 2 back rows of OOS trailers, there would be room.

I agree.
They have been there for years. I wonder why they keep them around instead of just sending them to a scrap yard.
