I really hate US 6 when the weather is bad, and most times always.
I-25 to I-80 and over is what I always try to take unless there are 60 MPH winds to deal with. My DM usually lets me go that way when I ask.
Not to mention, Evanston is one of the few places in the country where I can find my pipe tobacco...
I'm at the OKC terminal tonight, with a load going further into OK tomorrow.
I'm really hoping to get something headed for Salt Lake or east of here along I-40. I'm getting very low on my tobacco supplies.
Good ol' Plus 1.
My delivery tomorrow was set at 1215 at a Walmart store.
I pushed hard this evening so I'd have some extra time for my break, but when the load assignment came through the delivery was pushed back to 1100!
I get here 1 hour early, and the delivery time is set back 1.25 hours.
I can play that game too.
The actual window gives me until 1300.
I'm thinking I'll just send a mac 22 to say I'll be there at 1259. The reason being... I agreed to a certain time - TRY PLAYING FAIR!!!

Well I realize I've been silent for a while but I've been very busy. I'm chillin at the mr fuel at I-70 ex 123 in Indiana.
In the past few months I've picked up a second truck and my (ex) co-driver is driving the other truck. We are both mentors now and have been doing pretty good. I'm still driving target reefer loads out of Columbus. My co-driver is tired of running so much. So he is driving my other truck on the dollar tree account out of Chesapeake. It's a lot more work but he gets home a couple times a week. I personally prefer less work for the same money and I still get home once a week.
On another note did anyone else see the update to swift's cell phone policy? We are now allowed to use hands free devises to make and receive calls. Not that the old policy was really enforced that much anyways.HousTank Thanks this. -
Which is probably why it changed. It's legal. My company tried such a policy until they realized prohibiting use of cell phones while driving meant the DMs couldn't get in touch with the driver for long periods of times. That drove 'em crazy.HousTank Thanks this.

Taking my break at Stripes in Ft Stockton TX on I-10. Only had 7 hours for today, just enough to make it here from Laredo up the Mexican border. Very pleasant ride, this time, with only 22k lbs and virtually no traffic. Start getting big hours back tonight. Have some extra time so I'm going to relax the rest of the day and leave at 3am.

"Nope only California hates them"
I just went to the autosock web site because I was not familiar with what they were. They have a map of the US with all states which allow it. California does as well as basically everyone else according to their web site. -
Ellsworth IA. Was going to try and make delivery today but after a delay in Edwardsville for about 1.5 hours and then trying to get fuel on a card that turns out was not activated and then the weather turning to crap realized that there was no way. Then received a fleet msg and saying if bad park it. So I tried and they were getting a little worse and the cars where not helping. Saw a Swift jacked and flipped in the median and then a Conway set of doubles flipped all over the SB lanes on I-35 about 24 miles north of the MO line

Oklahoma City, OK.
After delivering a Walmart load (They had a dozen trailers in the parking lot, just waiting to be unloaded.) I was stacked 3 deep.
Two of them are less than 90 miles from the terminal and deliver tomorrow by around noon, and the third is getting me up to NE on Monday.
I was told for the local runs I would be paid hourly plus mileage both ways. The mt miles listed for 2 of them are nearly 500 miles!
I overslept a bit this morning and was nearly late.
Weird, but I was having a nonsensical dream that I couldn't seem to let go of.
Must be an effect of Oklahoma, since the devil has been in residence here for as long as I can remember.HousTank Thanks this. -
Cool the must have changed then becusa last winter they told me to pound sand, and can't use them. Pu a load in el Paso. Going to Phoenix at least it delivers the same day

Sitting at target in frederickburg, VA.
Got here an hour early despite getting pulled over by a Maryland state trooper and a bad traffic backup due to construction on I-95 in va. Serving as a perfect example to my student to pick up your load early whenever possible because you never know what will happen out here on the road.
The target reefers that I haul have a lift axle as the forward tandem axle. When the weight sensors detect less than 17k on the tandems it lifts that forward axle off the ground. The MD state trooper pulled me over because she thought something was wrong with my trailer, "did you know one of your axles isn't touching the ground?" I just smiled and said yes ma'am and explained to her how they worked. She sent me off with a "sorry to bother you" and "drive safe".
After the receiving guys get here at 04:00 to unload me I'll be dropping my trailer off to the side here and bobtailing to the hotel to drop my student off and head to my house for a day off. -
Faribault, MN. Darn is it cold. Dropped mine this morning and had to mess with the 5th wheel pin because so cold. Now sitting 2 miles from pick up in the morning and then down to NC. Will be letting my DM know on Tuesday any pplan keeping me in the ESE will be flatly refused. Not going to stay in the area and play with the hills and mountains on a daily basis with heavy loads. Brocelli, I was thinking about asking you about the Target reefer loads until I saw that you were in VA. Ran Target dry loads out of Jeffersonville long time ago and got real tired of every other day seeing the Baltimore area.
