I love that Cabela's! Picked up my chaining gloves there, a pair of fishermen's neoprene gloves. Just the ticket for having insulation with unparalleled dexterity. The other things I like about Cabela's: extremely clean bathrooms and wild game on the menu in their restaurant.
This is one reason I use Google satellite view whenever I'm planning to take a 10, that's how I found that Cabela's (although officially you aren't supposed to take a 10 in that particular Cabela's they don't seem to monitor your time there closely). I've found many a great, quiet spot to take a 10 by simply scanning over an area close to a customer. Shopping centers offer good parking and a chance to switch it up with much better restaurants, coffee, and grocery shopping than you'll get at a truck stop. Then use the 30 minute break to take a shower at a truck stop.
Headed from Denver to Albuquerque to t-call a load of water, trainee at the wheel. We were just commenting that with 115 hours behind the wheel this is the first time we've pulled a load over 28K.
Tomorrow we take a load from Albuquerque to El Paso, then my trainee starts running recap hours. We're hoping to finish out the 200 hours within 10-12 days. After that I'll take some home time and may consider running solo until Christmas before taking on another trainee.

Here in Streamwood, IL. Woke this morning and my one load was cancelled and given a 2 stopper to Shaumberg. Got the first stop off and was pulling out and around and my trailer caught the corner of the brick wall and put a nice hole in the side. Thought that I had it cleared. Reported it. Went back inside Target and told them. they came out and took some pics along with me and told me that I am not the first that has caught that corner. They are used to it. There went 20+ years of no accident. They are not sure if I have to have a meeting with safety in Columbus or not. As of tonight they are calling it an incident. We will see when I get back to the DC. Taking a 10 here. Was even told this morning that when I get here for the reload just take my 10.
Had my little Orientation today at Target and the person that gave it to me was the same person that did my orientation back in March of 2011. Looks like I will be transferring within the week. Was also told that because of where I live there is a dedicated dry box load if I want. Seven days a week back and forth to Pittsburgh, with stopping at home almost every day if I want it. Not really keen about Pittsburgh every day. Think that I will like this account. Very friendly people and due to being close to home, all of 50 miles, can get home when needed. Told them about my home time this Monday for couple of days and first time home in 2 months and they liked that. Shows that I do not need to get home all the time and that I do not to 34 restart.HousTank Thanks this. -
True..I usually and consistently run pretty good miles. I've tried to avoid this very situation several times over the last two months by hitting every terminal with a simulator. Each time there was a roadblock on getting the session completed...now I'm at the end of the line. Memphis would've worked out just right but...
Sounds like you're going to Neelys. Been there a few times. Can be a small PITA if both inbound lanes are backed up.
There was a SNAFU in ECT setting my extended PTA for the B-Serv and planners sent more than a couple heavy, heavy Ocean Spray loads..live at both ends..only going a couple hundred miles. Got PTA fixed and mac9'd them and then auto received even more heavy, heavy OS loads going the same distance but different locales. Lot of places restocking after the holiday.
So the upside to getting the B-Serv is not getting stuck with any of these ultra heavy time consuming short loads. Yay!!Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
If you're talking about the Target account, you'll be happy to know that there are no stores in downtown Pittsburgh. The only store in the area that I can see giving you any trouble is the East Liberty store, but once you figure out a decent route, even that one shouldn't be a problem.
Most of the Pittsburgh area stores are in relatively new shopping centers, designed for big trucks. -
Yes the Target account. My problem is that I would burn out very fast of every day I-70 and I-79

Back at the T/A. I think that today for the return I must have had one of their oldest trailers. It bounced more then our Swift trailers, but then again on I-65 and 70 out of Indiana I do not think that any thing would ride smooth. I think that after tonight unless in the mood for a nice sit down meal I am going to start to park at the Peelot. Better internet than here.
-
If I do stop in London I try to get to that pilot. If you haven't already noticed the speedway next to the TA always has parking and cheaper fuel. If you have to there is also truck parking at the mcdonalds across the street. If you need a walmart there is one that is easy to get in and out of with a full rig about 4 miles down the street south of the TA further toward downtown London on us 42.

Thanks. When I have to park in this area with a trailer I have been using that Speedway for years. Seems many forget that it is there. I just needed the internet tonight and for some reason the T/A has really sucked in the front lot. Almost just went home. Only 50 miles from the DC. Just did not have a pplan yet so did not know what time would have to leave in the morning.

This is not a place for 10 hour breaks or overnight as signs are posted, they do in fact monitor the parking lot a guy or two will walk out with radios and talk to the security company who monitors the trucks coming in. If he knocks on truck and you're in it he will tell you to leave if it's been awhile, seen it a couple times in the past month as I am a regular shopper there. Hell I bought 3 work outfits on Black Friday and it was $139 which was decent. -
I've stayed there several times over the last few years and have never had an issue. I also patronize their establishment and don't leave a footprint when I depart. I'll continue to stay there when needed.
Perhaps trucks asked to leave brought it upon themselves.
