Sweet! You're going to have fun with that. A friend of mine goes deer hunting with one.

At the York NE Petro on I-80 and this place is packed.
Finished my 2-stop in SD and headed down to Columbus NE to pick up a preloaded going to Laredo that I found on mac30 last night. Offer and dispatch had no weight posted so I figured it was heavy..and it was..45.9K lbs. Got to the Petro, weighed it, balanced it to where I could add 80 gals and weighed it again. All three axles just a tad under legal max. Good to roll now!! -
Hi MsJamie.
Yes, we had some fun with it today at an indoor range.
It's a fun gun to shoot, and very little kick even with .44 Magnum rounds. The heavy barrel is no doubt the reason.
I didn't have a small screwdriver to adjust the rear sight for windage, so we had to wing it.
Neither my nephew or I like the brass bead front sight. It seems to blend in with the target too much.
I'll have to see about doing something about it.
It is a very sweet rifle, though.
The action is very smooth, and the trigger pull seems right around 5 pounds.
We put 80 rounds through it, a combination of .44 Magnum and .44 Special, without a hang.
It has a 10 round capacity, which is probably the highest of any lever action out there.
We were shooting 3-5 inch groups at 50 yards, and around 7-9 inches at 100 with the stock sights. Not too bad when neither of us have shot a gun in several years (decades for me).
I decided to remove the lever and bolt when I cleaned it tonight.
I ran into a small snag - the ejection spring falls out as a result.
But a quick trip to a YouTube video showed me how to get it back in place, which required tweezers. Very easy when you can see it being done, very impossible with fingers alone.
I wonder how they did it back in the wild, wild west.
I imagine, with all that is going on in the world right now, it might be the best investment I could have made with my sudden windfall of money from that casino.Last edited: Dec 5, 2014
Broccelli Thanks this. -
In Denton TX at the T/A on I-35. Will be in Laredo before lunch tomorrow with a little time to chill before dropping at the brokers first thing Monday morning.
Nice drive down from Nebraska today. -
At the TA on I-94 x4 in WI.
Came off home time today at 1200. A bit later I got a call from someone in Otay Mesa telling me that freight is very low here in MN, but that I had a pplan on the way.
It picks up in WI about 380 miles away tomorrow at 1600, and delivers in OH the next day at 1800. So I've got some time on my hands for this whole load.
Could be worse, I guess. There were a LOT of trucks/drivers sitting around at Inver Grove Heights.
I seem to have found the only decent mt that wasn't already hooked to. Several had defects, but no red tags.
When I did the tug test the trailer moved, so I thought the brakes were bad. But it turned out to be a pulled tandem lever. I'm not sure why a driver would pull the handle on an mt trailer.
When I called to get it attached to me it was still attached to the previous driver, but that was worked out so the trailer is mine now.
I just feel lucky to have a load (any load) out so soon, and to have snagged an mt.HousTank Thanks this. -
Moosetek, I envy your Rifleman rifle. That was one of my favorite shows growing up. It's sad today. Back then it was a common sight to see a boy walking down the street with a gun, on the way to target practice or hunting (in a more country setting). I got my first 22 when I was six, then the next year was a 410 shotgun, then a 30-06.
I met my match when I tried to fire my uncle's 8 gauge black powder shotgun. All I remember was pulling the trigger then looking up at the sky. Not much in between...
My shoulder hurt for a week.
Taking a 34 at Jurupa Valley. My trainee is out of 70 hour clock, 14 hours shy of getting the full 200 hours behind the wheel. We are waiting for a live unload on Monday morning near Long Beach. Hopefully we can get a nice out and back load plan so I can get him upgraded in Jurupa Valley and pick up another student. I got a message on the Qualcomm that JV is desperate to get more mentors because they have a glut of trainees waiting to get on the road.
If I get another trainee I'll plan on getting back home for Christmas after they have their 50 hours or perhaps a tad more.
My T-680 seems to be well broke in, with about 90K miles. Just ran from Kearney, NE to JV with 8K in the box, no winds and bare roads in Wyoming...
... at 9.4 mpg. Overall fuel mileage for 90K miles is now holding at an average of 7.8, which is pretty good compared to the Cascadia's I've driven. I'm impressed with what KW has done.Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
Peelot in London, OH. Just finished a 3 stopper with awake about 30 hours. Just woke up yesterday morning and when arrived at the DC 7 hours late asked if I could take a Pittsburgh and Heath load that was coming out earlier. I was the only one in the area that could take a 10 and pick it up. So yes I did. Do not know about any one else but after just waking up it is very hard to fall right back to sleep again, so no sleep. Now I have 12 hours until pick up a sweet 5 stop load for the Akron and Canton area. Staring to like this gig. Maybe short on miles a little at times but the stop pay sure makes up for it. Not like Wally World at $15/stop for O/O. Also still trying to get used to this new Samsung 5 that I picked up on last home time.

Hanging at the Laredo Terminal. Arrived here earlier today and got the trailer inspection out of the way for my morning drop at the broker.
Mac30 had 3 pretty good loads sitting on the yard waiting, reasonable weights, all to the Midwest. I grabbed the longest I could finish by Wednesday. 16K lbs going to Dubuque IA. Will make for a very good week.Moosetek13 Thanks this.
