Um, yeah. I'm gonna have to go ahead and get you to take a seat right over there at the driver development coordinator's desk and gtfo of my truck. :D
I would have booted him last week if I were in that situation, my mentor and I were running 6 - 7k miles per week.

Cut him loose and encourage him to seek a career in the expedited culinary field ... he'll make more money.

GLR/Costco may be adequate if he lives in the area. I switched to it a few weeks ago, doing the regional thing. Nationwide ended up being really hard on me. Now I'm never more than a few hours away from home, family, family friends, and/or really close friends. Still making good money too. I actually want to say that I've been making better money with a tiny bit less work being regional versus what I was doing national.

He certainly knows the greater LA area well. The issue will be whether he can work (drive) consistently enough to finish the required deliveries for a local dedicated gig.

My last trainee, great driver, was advised she was in line for a couple of dedicated opportunities out of JV, but when she finished up last week was told there wasn't anything. Local gigs are hard to get into as I understand it.

By the way, I would NEVER be able to stand doing a local gig in the LA area, or any major metro area. While I "plays well with traffic" just fine, the lack of productive miles would get to me. If it was an hourly gig that would be different.

I have always had better than 20/20 as well, not sure how since everyone in my family has bad eyes and wears glasses, guess I was lucky. You still got plenty of years left as long as you take care of yourself and keep that bp in good standing.

I helped out walmart for a weekend in JV area and I wanted to yank all my hair out, I can deal with the couple trips to the LA area each week but doing it daily.....hell no.

Tomorrow got myself a vegas load then a sterilite out of Lake Havasu, will return Saturday then run my hours back to Vegas and shut down there and return Sunday, today went to West Hills and Merced for about 550 miles. So far another decent week for me I would have to say, been averaging 500-600 miles daily for the past couple weeks and its been nice having extra money sitting in the bank along with Christmas completely done. Looks like I may have to spend a pretty penny replacing some stuff at home though, wife called me that our closet was flooded along with boxes of items, clothes etc from a pipe busting in the wall, hardest thing to replace will be my box of paperwork she said got soaked which includes everything from work, medical, taxes etc, teach me for not using a file cabinet.

    N. Baltimore, OH at the Petro. Had about 2 hours left and 99 miles to the DC and was not going to chance it. Just takes one screw up plus many small little 25mph towns to go through on US68 and OH31 and this being daytime it would not take much. Ran into my first real dick for a receiver today at a store. Jumped on me as soon as I walked in the door, telling me that I was 1 hour late. That I was supposed to be there at 6 and not 7. According to my QC and Target, she was set for 0715. Nicely told her that at 6 I was at my first stop in Madison Heights and then she just got more huffy. After done called it in and explained what happened and was told that we have many problems with this one store and this clerk and that Swift was going to talk to Target, especially after she jumped on me for no reason.
