I drove one of those monsters recently for a couple days and it added some difficulty at a couple stores, one store took me almost double the time I normally take and another about 15min longer.

Delivered to Vegas after getting back to the dc and the trailer was mt so I texted the planner and he sent me to Sterilite in Lake Havasu again and I got here with just a few min left on the clock shut down on the outside of the drop lot, will wake up then go get the load and get back to the dc then off to Santa Maria and the time will be close to decide if I make it back or sleep out for a 3rd night. I can say im getting some #### good miles this week though.

Homestead was a lot of fun. GPS tries to route you over a bridge for a right turn that says no trucks over 40'. Was talking to a local driver there and he says that 53's still try and take that turn. All that a person needs to do is go a couple of blocks and turn right on Amity and down a small hill right into Target. Getting out of there and back to I-70 is no picnic.

Here at the T/A in London. Replaced 4 batteries this morning to the tune of about $500. Picking up a 5 stop load. Back to Detroit for 4 stops then over to Sandusky for the final. Was not a happy camper yesterday. For my 3rd Sunday in a row got a local Columbus. All of 4 stops. We are paid 41 total loaded miles and drove for 91 miles. All because 3 stops are listed as in Columbus. Had that 41 total miles by the time that I got to the 3rd stop and still had to go to Grove City and back to the DC.

I'm not sure what way the QC wanted to route you out of there. If you're heading for I-70 WB, I'd run 837 south through Clairton, hit PA-51 north to PA-43 (Turnpike), which will take you right to 70.

Another way (but NOT during traffic time) would be to loop up onto the High Level, er Homestead Grays Bridge, and follow that up to I-376. Run west to I-79, then south to I-70.

I grew up in that area...

MsJamie, It routed me down to the town of 84 to get I-70. I did take PA-43 for short time, about 8 miles I think before got off

Seriously hoping that there is no next time. Those 3 stores where not fun getting too. East Liberty and Monroeville and then Homestead and they even asked if I wanted to run Pittsburgh dedicated. Every day.

Yep the only downside is you run straight through downtown and the delivery time usually puts you there during lunchtime traffic. I've tried finding alternate routes into that town but they all involve bridges with weight restrictions. You just have to gut up and run through that tight downtown. I usually just split lanes and pray that no one stops too far into the intersections to block my turns. The store itself is an easy enough dock just getting in and out is a little stressful. I'd take Chicago any day over homestead.

Btw I'd just tell them to send a company truck into Columbus. They get local pay for that run usually. We really don't profit hardly at all from that run. I'd rather take the night off than run my truck for pennies. If they are real desperate and you tell them you'd rather sit they'll either find you another load or kick in some extra pay. Sometimes it's just a simple oversight and they don't realize what they are doing if you let them know that you're not cool with that they'll remember next time.

Here at a small fuel stop on OH-4 just out side of Sandusky. Got her with about 15 mins to spare. I knew that it was only 7 miles from my final and when left there still had about 30 minutes. What a day. 1st stop was Allen Park, MI then up to Southfield and from there down to Livonia and back to Southfield again for the 4th drop and still try and get here to my final in Sandusky by 11. That did not work out. The 1st stop had to take off just about the whole load to get to their last one in the nose and of course put it back on. Then later Detroit rush hour from Southfield to Livonia and back and this place is not even in the GPS and MAC 23 says take 275 and get off at 8 mile road and the second lite is Haggerty Street and they are on the corner. Get there and see on the corners Meijer and bobs Big Boy and Hampton Suites and Best Buy. No target so which way to turn. I turned the wrong way and then took almost 20 mins to get turned around. Should have been a left and then 1/4 mile down on left. That shot the morning right then and there. Now have all of 11 hours for tomorrow and have to use 2.5 to get back to the DC so I see another local in my future. Then he thought he was doing me a big favor giving me this load to Detroit and Sandusky

Broccelli, it is the same person all 3 times that has dumped that local on me and I have expressed my feelings. Their words, look, you are getting a extra $35 for the local work. They just do not understand. My fuel for the out of route plus the lost revenue for the out of route plus no short haul pay. Since no pplan yet I can only guess who is planning this afternoon.
