My longest mty run was from Buffalo NY to Macon GA to do a 50 mile D/H. Running the Appalachians was a blast with an mty trailer.

My Volvo bunk heater is pretty weak at those temps as well.
But that cold, I idle the truck and use the regular heater. -
No... No... No... I was going home. Home. Home. Home. My shank wasn't fully enclosed by the whatchacallit. In the past, just pull the release push it back in would fix it. Pulled it and the truck started rolling. Oh god. Rolled into a trailer.

Well I guess theres a method to their madness. Well, or maybe not. Hey at least we get paid
Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
I don't see the lol? Something stupid happened. I feel awful. I am upset. I backed under a trailer. Went to pre-trip the trailer. Got under the trailer to see that my kingpin was not fully enclosed by the locking jaws. Had it actually happen earlier today at a costco, I fixed it by pulling the release arm out and pushing it back in. I pulled the release arm out. My truck started to roll SLOWLY forward. I ran out in front to stop it. Had a guy yell out that I wasn't going to stop it and get out the way. While getting out of the way, I fell backwards. Truck rolled slowly into a parked, loaded trailer. Literally like no damage to the trailer aside from the dot tape getting scraped off. My truck has a good bit of body damage to it on the driver side. Bumper cracked, headlight knocked loose, the fiberglass body panel above the wheel knocked off.
i am sorry for the lack of paragraphs, still a bit upset. -
Sorry, I was confused by "shank" and "whatchamacallit." At least no one got hurt. I take it your brake wasn't set?

Yeah.

message too short my ### -
Stupid mistake. Stupid stupid stupid. I back under. I tug test twice. Hook up my hoses and wires. Walk around check to get on the other side for raising landing gear. Get under and check the locking jaws before I raise the landing gear.
Not that I'm trying to shift blame away from me. But the trailer was practically perfect height wise, I slid right under it. Trailer was mostly sitting on the landing gear more than the fifth wheel. If I had lowered the landing gear some, so there was more weight sitting on the fifth wheel, would what happened have happened?Last edited: Jan 11, 2015

I always like to pick the trailer up a little when I hook. And then tug, and then set brakes, hook up the lines and I use a flashlight and check the locking arm around the kingpin. Then if everything is good I raise landing gear. If not, I unhook lines, release my 5thwheel, pull forwards a little and slam back into the kingpin, and inspect again. If the trailer seems high to begin with I lower it until my truck will lift the trailer a little.
