Dispatch says NOT to take US-14 outbound from Worland. It also indicates the load will be in the neighborhood of 45K. I think I did one load there before, but might have been a delivery and not a pickup. Google Satellite View reminds me this is a dirt/mud lot for the drop and hook.

I've had several out of Worland that were empty cans.
10K at best.Cjh_army Thanks this. -
I came in on 14, that is fine. The shippers elevation restriction is why you can't go outbound that way. Going through wind river is pretty enough on its own on the way to Casper. I love those can loads.

Well, sitting here waiting for the receiving crew at Sam's in Casper, the snow just started. MyRadar shows a heavy band on US-20 about 30 miles west headed this way. Might make for a more interesting night of driving up to Worland. Getting up there and then trying to get to Little America might be a tad bit longer than I anticipated.
I remember driving up to Worland a couple of summers ago on US-20. Beautiful canyon that has one of my "bucket list" stops for a 10, a really big, nice pullout next to the river. The only downside of that location for a 10 is all the big stacked Pete's running through the canyon with their jakes on full for no apparent reason other than to get the echo off the canyon walls....

If your pplan is 45k you may have gotten a load of lids instead of cans. The cans are all under 7k . When you get there , drop your mt at the front and find your load in the back . BOL will be in the bill box or attached to the gladhand. Do your lcall and leave ; there's no need to go inside .
I didn't get up that way last summer but before then I was up there several times . My DM would get me a load to Billings and then a can load out of Worland both with at least 2 extra days so I could stop to go fly fishing . In the Wind River canyon where the house size rock landed I caught eight 20 inch plus Browns on 8 consecutive casts . I plan on spending at least a week fishing my way across Montana next summer . -
It's a shame I'm running it at night in a snowstorm, although I love a good challenge and have my Starbucks in my mug and a full thermos. Got an extra pack of cigarettes as well. I love running the west: the scenery is good for the soul, the mountains are a challenge, and the weather throws in a little spice.

You hit the nail on the head.

At ta in Lisbon Indiana, nice place and best thing is barely anyone here, Yay me. Watching the snow fly again in 2 days oh well. Can't wait to get to southern Arizona for some warm weather lol
