Awww gee! Don't like a challenge?
Getting ready to watch The Equalizer on DVD, sitting in the bobtail section of the Sumner terminal. In a couple of hours my t-call should arrive from BC and I'll get cranking toward Las Vegas.
This is a total schedule flip. I got up at 1:00 am at my brother's house a few miles away from the terminal and bobtailed in, expecting to pick up the trailer and get rolling right away. No such deal. The load offer was confusing in that the ready time of the load seemed to indicate it was already in the yard.
No problems. I went right back to sleep a few times over the last 12 hours. Woke up about two hours ago and walked to the Fred Meyer to get some groceries (1.3 miles each way) and it was a pleasant walk. Temperatures 60ºF with sunshine peaking through the clouds.

I pushed the challenge as far as I wanted to today.
Just out of Dayton and the roads started getting very slippery in patches, and that was enough for me.
I got far enough so that I can make delivery tomorrow and pick up my next load before I have to shut down.
And I have enough time on both so that I won't be late on either.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
At Edwardsville to finish day 2 of 3 from Laredo to East Moline, IL. Got back from a shower and turned my ignition on to check the odometer to find my air pressure had dropped by half in less than an hour. After I built the pressure back up I cut the engine and heard the air, one of the lines at the rear of the trailer cracked. It's a good thing I ended up coming here for the night instead of going to the Topeka service area on I-70 for the night.

If anyone is in the Florida area there is way more freight than trucks here. Plus the Ocala walmart dedicated is looking for surge drivers.
-
Never again will I personally do Wal-Mart surge as L/O. Been there. Done that and paid dearly for it. Been brought in to help and when no load asked and told that we take care of our drivers assigned and you just have to wait.
-
That's too bad. When I was dedicated we took care of our surge guys. But that was a different dc. Freight in general is huge here. I declined 10 loads heading north because I'm going west for home time during my 34. I got a sweet load that takes me almost to my doorstep last night.
-
Sometimes it pays to stick your ground when it comes to home time loads.
-
At home tcalled a load to get me on home time. Got to Greer and tcalled and noticed a shipment of 2016 kenworths came in. Going to try to butter up my dm and see what I have to do to get my hands on one lol.

Shut down for the night and most of the am tomorrow waiting on getting a HUT (hiway utilization tax) permit for NY. Sitting under a load going to Oceanside NY. Live unload was scheduled for 10 am. I'll be lucky to have the permit by then. A bit frustrated I wasted the entire day yesterday sitting at VA exit 1 on I 77 trying to get this permit so I could have staged at or near customer tnite and not have to deal with NYC Monday morning traffic. Oh well it's my first week solo, what do I know about proper staging for large city deliveries. (Smirk)
Anyone been thru the city to Oceanside? Care to share degree of difficulty? -
The HUT is a sticker, not a paper. It can't be faxed.
As far as I know, anyway.
That should have been included when you got your truck.
Ah well, live and learn.
