I seldom speak with my DM. Normally not more than twice a week. Sometimes not even that.
Those times it is something like... "The system didn't dispatch me, please dispatch me".

'West is short 719 loads. East is short 324 today. Good luck!'
    LOL
That covers just about the whole country, except maybe a small strip in between.

I guess I'm happier now about my 1250 mile load over 4 days that I snagged to get out of the deep down south black hole of TX.
Mac 30 seems to have been my friend on that one.

But with all the red holes in freight, I seem to keep moving as far as my hours let me.
Well, this load will let me build up some hours. I might even take a 34 to get them all back.
If I can find just the right place to camp for a couple days...

Getting to home time, I never call my DM. I just refuse any load that doesn't get me there, or closer. The reason is always "Home Time Request".
I seldom have to wait very long.

    HousTank Thanks this.

Newbie (somewhat) question... West short 719 loads/Eat short 324...meaning more drivers than loads?

jv terminal. did 2 trips to ross dc. 1st one.i was heading for ross dc in perris ca when about 8 miles from terminal trailer tire blew. pulled over to check and the whole tread is gone. was the right front axle inner tire. so decide to limp into terminal instead of waiting 3 hrs on side of rode. got fixed pretty quick

Yes, and it means many drivers will be sitting for days waiting for a load.

    And it doesn't make sense.
We are past the slow time of year and freight is picking up again.

I have not stopped running at all during the past several months, except for shop time and home time.

arrive at ross and dropped the trailer and grabbed emtpy for my 2nd trip. waited about .5 hr in line to get to the outgate. lady came over and said the mt has an issue in their puter, couldnt take it. so wasted another 15 min. dropping that one and getting another. they let me use their xpress lane. had a 1400 appt to san bernardino and got there about 1405. they didnt say anything. got loaded and delivered it to the ross dc in moreno valley. ca.

You watch. How much you want to bet that if all of a sudden a area gets way overbooked for freight you will see lots of company trucks bobtailing to help out. Have seen it many times. Once I was heading to Laredo and was told that there was plenty of freight. By the time that I got there 2 days later it was gone. They bobtailed many trucks down there, forgetting about the ones that where on their way with loads, so yes, we sat then.

Just because freight is short doesn't mean that they have trucks in place to cover freight that's booked.
