New Brumfels, TX. Was going to try for San Antonio but Austin messed up those plans. Only about 65 miles on the clock and 50 miles away. Way to close. Mac 30 had 2 nice offers if they were going home. Augusta, GA. Then a pplan. Dallas and declined saying home time and need to see back up. Removed in record time. Under 3 minutes which tells me 2 things. There is nothing in Dallas, and command had nothing, and that the planner was just trying to pawn me off on another planner. Not going to play the games of Lancaster plus it was a drop, and I have had too many that when show up, yes, drop, and no mt to get because other drivers come in an take them. Then a little while ago, another pplan. Deliver St. Peters, MO on Sunday, and no back up to get home. Like I said earlier, it is not that hard to get from Laredo to Columbus. Just takes some work and planning.
Forgot to mention that the other day when I was in Edwardsville I saw 2 guys walking around a truck in white suits. When I got close to their truck and trailer, saw that it said Emergency Response Unit, haz-mat response. There where all up inside that one truck. Sure would hate to be the person that gets that truck.
Edit, I will be. Within 5 minutes of refusing that last load, lo and behold, one shows up sitting on the yard, going 20 miles from my home on Monday. Go figure

Did somebody leave piss bottles in the truck again?

I hear if you turn in a truck or put it into the shop and piss bottles and garbage are inside you can be charged about $600 for HazMat response. Can't recall which terminal it was, but one terminal used to have pictures in the shop of truck interiors that required HazMat. Simply unbelievable. One guy had garbage and piss bottles (I lost count after a dozen bottles) literally covering the floor to the level of the passenger seat. -
I've just knocked off ANOTHER place on my bucket list where I always wanted to take a 10. I'm at the Truckee rest area on Donner Pass. Rolled in about 21:30 tonight and my live unload 140 miles away in Stockton isn't until day AFTER tomorrow at 09:45.
I would give SERIOUS consideration to NOT putting pressure on the CSR to try and push my delivery to tomorrow and simply go hiking, BUT I've got to get to Lathrop tomorrow evening to pick up a new trainee....
.... and I finally got the offer I just couldn't refuse. I decided to take the job in OKC, running flatbed loads to oil rigs. I know, I know, the oil industry is in a slump; but with the revenue generated by the loads and I'll make 25% I'm looking to at LEAST match what I'm making as a mentor. In addition to that the company I've signed on with has a HWH division that will take me on as soon as I've had a few months solid flatbed experience delivering to oil rigs, and THAT will be a serious increase in compensation.
I talked it all through with my wife and she's on board 110%. Now it's a matter of trying to get routed to OKC so I can turn in the truck and have all my tools and gear with me.
Edited to add that the OKC position will have me home at least half the nights, a far cry from not seeing my wife for weeks at a time.OceanDan, Rattlebunny and Kindle Thank this. -
CSR and DM woke me up 9 hours ago with a hot repower from Gary to Michigan for a 10:00 am live unload, was told the trailer should be here by 2200 since the driver was only 228 miles out at 1600. Midnight rolls around so I go check on my t-call, driver is taking a ten in Chicago.
OceanDan Thanks this. -
And THAT'S why I turn down the volume on my Qualcom and turn the ringer on my phone OFF when I'm in the sleeper. Didn't turn down the Qualcom once while taking a nap and some dim-bulb ECT in Phoenix sent me an URGENT message because HE THOUGHT I was gonna be late for my early morning delivery appointment.pumpkinhead, Rattlebunny and OceanDan Thank this.

Still settling in here after the move to Bay City Texas. Won't go to Houston terminal for reassigned truck til maybe next week. Sunoco Logistics is hiring and they have a terminal here. I did the dress up to inquire in person. Ugh not hiring local but if I would relocate three hours........ Let them know we just relocated 1100 miles. Left my resume in case they had future openings. Going to apply at a couple more places. First question is always "do you have or are planning to install driver facing cameras?". Going to need to get my hazmat endorsement and a TWIC card. I love OTR but just can't continue being away from wife and daughters for weeks at a time.
Oh Moose, I got this straight from a dm super after cluster in the past. You can mac 9 a load, even a committed one up until the point you are dispatched.
Gratzio Lepton!!
Been keeping up reading and enjoy all. -
The TA here in Laredo. Thank you CSR for messing up again. Showed up for my LIVE and found out that it was a drop and has been for some time. They told me that for some reason they will not update. So back to the terminal for inspection and by the time get to go back traffic all backed up at Exit 8. At least my DM put me on the clock for the whole mess. Now not in the mood to pick up my next load until morning. So glad that going home. I need this break. Then after home back to PHX. My wiring harness is in now.
The only good about today, right up the road from my delivery, fuel was $2.54/gal. The terminal is $2.87 and the T/A and Pilot is $2.79.OceanDan Thanks this.
