My DM told me to just shut off the engine, put the sail up and I'd get to my final just fine.
LOL
My truck is headed into the wind, but I'm getting blown about quite a bit. I'm glad I turned on the weather channel to hear exactly how bad these winds were going to get.
The next truck stop on my route was 100 miles away in Bishop, CA, and it was between here and there that the winds are hitting 70.
Tomorrow should be fine, and I have a delivery window until midnight so I'm happy to wait it out.

The wind here in AZ is horrible and I feel for Steve driving into it to CA. I can't wait to hear him complain about it when he calls me tonight. With a sail Moose you'll get better gas mileage too...
Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
I regularly consult the "Classic Maps" feature on Weather.com ... I've never seen such a strong wind covering a wide region of the western and central US. Tornado warning from OKC to St. Louis tomorrow moving down toward the Gulf by Friday. Everyone stay safe out there.
Right now I'm getting ready for my vampire shift, taking over likely in Liberal, KS (UH OH!.... Dorothy's house....) and likely drive through the developing storm to get to central Illinois by dawn. Our destination is Philadelphia.Attached Files:

Sitting at the Petro in Toledo, OH. Got a run out to Rockford, IL, then another one to NC. Nasty headwind on the PA pike this afternoon. Fuel MPG was down about 15%, and with only 6K in the box, I was hitting the fart strips rather frequently.
Still, it feels good to get out and stretch my legs, even if it is only for a week. -
Finally home.
I had to jump through a hoop or two but I got here. I'm going to probably do absolutely nothing and hang out with the wife & kids for the next 4 days.Lady K Thanks this. -

The wind is still blowing pretty good here, was much worst in AZ. Was glad to have 44K in the box. -

sitting at home for my days off, yesterday was a fun day that took all but 23 minutes of my 14 when the day should of took around 9 if smooth. Was a big rig accident on the I5 NB when I was headed south and the traffic at that point was backed up for 12 miles so I routed myself taking the 14 heading back. A rig stalled and another rig hauling aviation fuel slammed in the back of him and the entire tractor was inside the trailer being a fatal accident plus fuel was spilled and had to be cleaned up and offloaded so im glad I didnt try, it happened at 9am or so and was still backed up late in the evening.
Then my 2nd delivery in east palmdale took a long time since a king pin lock was missing off the trailer and couldnt be found anywhere and im not allowed to leave a store with a trailer not secured, finally after a couple hours a staff member at the target found a core to put together a spare king pin lock they had inside the dock that could be used until someone got another to replace. -
If you are driving in heavy wind and your truck gets blown over are you charged with an accident? If you are going the speed limit, doing everything safe and legal, but a big gust of wind blows you over is that a chargeable accident? Seems very unfair that your trucking career could be over just because a gust of wind blew you over.
