It will be free for a while, but then likely will be subscription based.
Getting it free now won't make it free forever, so don't fool yourself.
A free upgrade to Windows 10 is a last ditch effort by Microsoft to hang on to some market share.
Sure, they fixed a few things this time around. But I still don't like what they have done, or are going.
Linux is becoming a more viable option every day.
Most of the software is free, it doesn't suffer from all the malware that Windows does, it is less demanding in terms of hardware, and the newer interfaces are just as user friendly as Windows or Mac.
About the only thing Windows has over Linux right now is more mainstream games to choose from.
That is changing as well, and if more people started using Linux it would change even faster.

It was good to see my old friend @A21CAV in Lancaster yesterday. It's nice that he can use his hobby, trucking, to take him all around the country to various casinos to pursue his real vocation, playing cards!

At the Petro on I-57 in Monee IL.
Got ready to leave Mathew MO this morning and during my pretrip found that the brake lights on this ragged old trailer quit working. Was at a T/A so did the mac55 and dealt with onroad. Had to wait 4 hours for the tech to finish other jobs ahead of me so back to bed. When he pulled the right rear light set to check the harness a rat nest and a LIVE rat fell out!! The little wanker chewed through some of the wiring. An hour later I was rolling.
On the way to park and set my 10 for an 08:00 live unload in Chicago I got stacked with 2 loads. Short haul out to Walmart in Sterling IL then 200 mile DH south to pick up a preloaded for a live unload Sunday morning in Cleveland TN NW of Chattanooga. A tad heavy so the hills north of Nashville and further east will be fun.
With the right load out of Cleveland this should be a pretty good week. -
Even so, I'm ready to get off the Windows Wagon.NoBluffBuff Thanks this.

In the heart of Idaho, and I woke up two hours earlier than expected. Going to drop this load in Lewiston, then perhaps deadhead home for two days. I tried to stay in the west for two weeks, working with a few planners between socal and troutdale, which has kept me rolling well. Finally had a week over 3k miles...nicely timed, as my bills have been stacking up.
I really don't want to be out east or the south at this point, for my own personal reasons.
Side note: It appears that Swift won't put cameras in the leased trucks, and it will be a popular move for those not wanting the intrusion. Maybe I should freshen up my lease-takeover post.HousTank Thanks this. -
Finally getting out of the home after fighting with planners. Finally put my foot down and had a long talk with my DM and said that I am ready to just clean out this truck right now and take it to Columbus. Preplans I was sent, 145 miles to Toledo, then one from Groveport to eastern NY for Sunday, then they found me a nice one to Laredo but they multiplanned that one and I was not fast enough; Then comes 2 pplans for a total of 1200 miles for 5 days. That is when finally lost it. Make a phone call and all of a sudden, a Owens Corning load 3 miles from my house to Casper, then shoot down to Sydney to pick up a preloaded trailer for Cabela's in OR for drop on Wednesday, then pick up a load of dunnage going to Golden. All except WY is drop and hooks. Plus one even said it was doable or would not have been able to get planned and my DM placed notes on the plans, DO NOT REMOVE. They know that I am ticked right now. If it would not have been for 2 loads coming over from last week my pay this week would have been about 1500 miles, AGAIN. I know that by the time that get to Golden I will be out of hours or very close. The WY load delivers on Monday so that means pushing 1300 miles, and then the OR load is 1400 miles. This in 5 days. Golden I will have2 days, but then again I have from Monday morning until late Wednesday afternoon to get the 1400 miles.

In NE at TA headed for home time in Denver tomorrow.
I shut down earlier than I wanted to so I could get a shower. This was the last place in range that I had a shower credit. I'll get an early start in the morning for my 1200 drop in Henderson, then home time with the girls.
I pick up Leann, my 13 year old, to ride along with me for the summer. That should be fun. We did it last year, and she love's the trucker life.scottied67 and fr8monkey Thank this.
