I got tmobile. I like it I get pretty good coverage. Truly Unlimited 4G which Is truly unlimited where they have this coverage. And it's a whole lot cheaper than the others

Been a while since I posted on this thread, just thought I'd drop by to say hello. It's been two months since departing Swift, jumping off the deep end into flatbed hauling to oil rigs out of OKC. I'm having a blast. I think "eating dirt" may become a habit, every time my Rand McNally says "Dirt Roads Ahead!" I get a woodie.

If you are ever coming through OKC and plan on stopping for a 10 or more, drop me a PM.

FWIW anyone coming in late and night and Jonesing for a place to park and don't care to run to the terminal, there's ALWAYS parking spots in the back row at the TA on Morgan Road at exit 140 off I-40. Thing is the way they set up the parking there's a whole section of about 12 parking spots that are rarely taken because they require a blind side with little room in front. You can go beyond and get turned around to have a driver's side shot into a spot. Usually there's at least a couple that are more than a spot wide so it's not so bad. Although I normally sleep at my brother's apartment a few miles away, many's the time I park at the TA to do shower and laundry and so I don't have to hassle with getting a ride home and back to the truck.

Although oil prices have a big impact in this sector of trucking, I've stayed pretty busy and the paychecks are averaging over $1000 per week take home. At first I thought I'd made a mistake and seriously considered going back to Swift, but after the first couple of weeks the loads started picking up and paying more (I get 25% of anything to the truck) and the dispatchers seem to have figured out I don't mind running hard.

I started a thread talking about my experience: Lepton1's transition from door swinger to flatbed, in case anyone wants to check it out.

My two years with Swift were a great experience and instrumental for helping me get this job. Anyone tell's you how bad Swift is, I'd say ignore the naysayers. If you learn to run hard and earn your stripes you can move to any job you want, within Swift or outside Swift. I fall back on what I learned at Swift and taught at Swift every day.

Taking a break at the Petro in Hillsboro TX near the I-35 split south of DFW.

Finished up my run from IN to Conroe TX yesterday morning then went to Sugar Land TX to pick up an mty can load to tcall at the Laredo terminal this morning.

Mac30 kept acting up on the way down so I called a Laredo planner for another load back out after the tcall. She offered me several going to Chicago, PA, WV, SC and CA...all heavy as sin which I politely declined. Then she offered a light 2-stop to northern central KS delivering early Monday. Perfect!! I took it. Turns out the 2nd stop is right across the street from the first. Simple enough!!

I-35N from San Antonio to Waco was the usual Death Race 2000 with all the maniacal 4-wheelers. Decided to hold up here and save going through Ft Worth at 3am while the crazies are still in bed.

Still holed up here in the hotel in Goodyear, AZ. Will be Monday, at least hope, until the truck is done since they are closed on Sunday. Getting some severe weather alerts for the area. Dust storms and flooding

I've started using the toll roads around Austin ... maybe little longer and probably a wash time wise, at best. But a much less stressful drive.

Had the opportunity to play tourist today ... dead heading and mt to Flagstaff from hurricane, all day to pick up. Took the time to stop at the Glen Canyon dam and check it out.

Picked up my load in Flagstaff, then over to Little America and had good steak dinner.

Wow. Not much activity lately - either in this thread or with loads.

I got off home time on Saturday and headed for the terminal.
I had a pplan, but it was going into Canada - I don't go there.
I called when I first got it about a t-call, and then went in to the window at the terminal when I got there to see about one. Both times I was told the planner would be sent a message about it, both times nothing more.
So I turned it down, and then sat for 2 days waiting for a load.

And I have never seen so many trucks at the Inver Grove terminal as this weekend. The place was totally packed. Trucks in the isles and bobtails spilling over all over the place.

I finally got a load out this morning, headed to AR.
I'm glad to be out of there, finally.

Yeah ... lots of bob tails here in Lathrop ... not a lot of trailers. Probably still sitting out at the DCs ... also noticed plenty of parking in the truck stops this week - not filling up as fast.

Freight is supposed to be better out east. I scored a stack that will get me to VA by Sunday. Plan on staying east of the big muddy for awhile.
