Here at the Decatur terminal. Can not believe the planners. Empty out just off I-20 west of Atlanta and need a trailer solution to pick up a command load in Lanett, Al and they give me a solution to pick up mt in Monroe, GA. So about 70 miles to get a mt, no pay and then instead of 70 mt miles to pick up load now 122 mt miles and again no extra pay because broker load. I think a perfect example that the planners really do not even look or care. Going to look for a mt here in the morning but have a feeling that if sending me to Wal Mart for one that there are none here. Then off to Houston for a Friday unload. All of 17K, fiberglass.

I've been paid for trailer solutions for Command loads. The trailer solution has NOTHING to do with a broker load and generates it's own pay.
As for the extra mt miles AFTER you find a trailer, you're SOL! -
Here at the Petro in Shorter, Al. Shut down way early. I was looking at the skies and did not like what I saw and pulled over in time. Then also looked at the weather map and was seeing severe storm cells from here all the way to Mobile. Some of you can call me a wuss, but I learned my lesson around here long time ago. I know that at times in this area that it is always not good to fool with mother nature, and I am not with only 17k in the box. I have until 0930 Friday to get 675 miles. Today they changed my trailer solution to just around the corner at TJX and there was no trailer there so back to the terminal and decided to walk around and lo and behold, a mt. Called it in to my DM, and he pulled it off the driver that had it assigned to his truck. He was on home time and no pplan and it was just sitting there. Then showed up for my live load and sitting in the yard there, 3 mt swift trailers and a few in the door. Knauf Fiberglass

TA East, Denver, CO.
I'm back alone in my truck after dropping off Leann. The little ones went with the oldest one to her place this afternoon so I relocated to the truck stop. I was pretty sure Mom didn't want me hanging around for another day.
It's a bit empty here without Leann, but all the same I'm glad to have all my room and privacy back.
Driving here dashed any hope of a 34 during this home time. I really wish company drivers had that extra line.scottied67 and HousTank Thank this. -
At the Harrisburg, PA Petro on I-76/81.
Got to the customer in Moorestown, NJ a little after lunch for my JIT live unload, after dealing with the traffic coming up I-95, and they asked if I wouldn't mind just dropping the trailer and taking their one mty with me. No problem and you don't have to ask twice!! Had my terminal fix the Ecall and I rolled south to Vineland for a preloaded trailer from General Mills the planners gave me on the way up.
Apparently this load was already a few days late getting picked up bound for a DC just east of Indianapolis. Previous driver left it there after it was overweight and had to be reworked. After picking it up and going to the only scale in town a few miles away it was still pretty heavy..45.5K lbs. I grossed at 79.2k lbs with half tanks. Crossing PA on I-76 will be a little slower this heavy.
Swift had given me the usual utterly stupid routing back down through Baltimore and D.C. and then across I-68W etc. there was no way I was going back through that madness on I-95. Took my usual route west through Philly to I-76 then I-70W. They can just pay the tolls for the more direct route.Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
I'm back from home time today.
I got a Coors glass load, but it doesn't pick up until 2030, a live load.
That's late.
Luckily there is just enough time on the load so I can shut down shortly after I get loaded. Hopefully I can find a decent place to park.
I'm headed to WI.HousTank Thanks this. -
Fuel routing gets absolutely stupid when it comes to the PA pike. When I was on the Target account, it would routinely route us an additional 90 miles, much of that back roads, in order to avoid $20 in tolls. Of course, that extra mileage is unpaid.
We took the turnpike.Moosetek13 and HousTank Thank this. -
Here in Huntsville, TX. Had 2 nice pplans on me when mt this morning then realized that my DM and I had a brain fart. Houston to Laredo and neither of us caught the miles on the load. It was showing 1k when actually 300 so her hurried and pulled them off me. Then waited for little while when sent a pplan with a t-call if wanted to, Houston to OKC or take to Windsor, CO for Monday. What a decision. Take a chance and get a load out of OKC on Saturday or try and get a decent one out of Denver on Monday. Decided to take it all the way. Tried to call the planners in Denver and their phones where rolling over to SLC. Trying to get one early so they are not gone by Monday. Hoping that can snag a 1K mile load by Wednesday so can end up with 2700 miles for the week. I have this sinking feeling that it will not happen, at least out of Denver.

At Sapp Bros on I-29 south of Council Bluffs, IA. Got here with 14 mins left on my 70. Running on the recaps.
Finished up my heavy as sin soup load from New Jersey yesterday to a Sams DC on the east side of Indianapolis and snagged a nice new trailer to roll with.
Had originally planned on only looking at loads heading in the general direction of Houston for home time next Wednesday but a planner threw me a bone I couldn't resist.
A nice light load to Logan, UT a little north of SLC. 200 mile deadhead and 1400 loaded. Drove to pick it up in central IL this morning and the shipper had me loaded and good to go in about 20 minutes. I love smaller Companies!!
Have a live unload in UT Monday morning and THEN I'll head towards Houston. Don't mind being a few days late.Moosetek13 Thanks this.
