We run that stretch regularly. I've seen trucks parked in the chaining areas for Donner. There are a couple of parking spaces at the weigh station at the top of the hill (just before the inspection station), and there's a "truck stop" (with room for three trucks) about halfway down the west side.

Other than that, there's nothing but trees from the state line until you hit civilization on the Sacramento side. (Don't leave Sparks with less than three hours available on your clock.) I've found that the larger Target stores don't have an issue with us parking in their lots; just park out of the way. Around the side or in back (if there's room) is good. (Target also usually has pretty good WiFi.)

Just one of the reasons I hate running California...

Cheyenne, WY. Dropped the load and received a little attitude from the receiving clerk. Asked if picking up a load there, don't know. Bobtail out. Do not know. Any idea where you are going. No Maam. Then got the attitude. Your planners are supposed to give you some idea so that we know what type of empty trailer to give you. On the way here thought that it was going to be a great day. Tailwind, until I got to the other side of Lincoln, then my favorite winds across the open planes, out of the SSW. Did a couple of MAC 30's. First one was the normal Loveland to Grand Junction. Then 3 offers. The longest one was 130 miles, all of them around Denver for tomorrow. Not happening. Let the planning games begin. Called the planners and that was worthless. I am on a list.

Sorry wrong thread. Meant to show how that picture manipulates you into thinking the truck driver caused the accident. But he was hit buy a pickup. I guess it was a coincidence I was browsing a swift thread. Lol

Just tell her to give you a good one, and ask to see the list for a number you like.
And sometimes taking one of those local short runs will get you something much better, because you helped out the local people with a problem load.

And I really thought you understood all this.

Hard to see the list when I am in Cheyenne. And as far as helping out, remember the old saying, fool me once, fool me twice, Denver has done that already do many times in the past, like help out and then all of a sudden that nice load goes away. Since all three loads where delivering late in the morning then all of the good loads would be gone until Friday morning. They keep preaching utilize the equipment better. Well, what about my truck. A 100 mile load for the day is not utilizing my truck. I have seen Denver play too many of these games with us L/O here. They do a good job taking care of their company drivers for the most part

It's no wonder the clerk "got an attitude". That DC is notorious for not giving out MTs unless you "need one", unless you specifically wanted to bobtail out you should have told them you need an MT for your next load.

I REALLY gotta agree with Squeak on this one. The Denver planners seem to do as little as possible to help most O/Os. I sat MT in North Platt, NE waiting for a home time load for more than 12 hours after I MTed out. It was only after I asked my home terminal for a customer to drop my MT at (so I could bobtail home) that they found me a load home. Last 2 times I was in the Denver planning area I lucked out and found what I needed on Mac 30.

As for "doing the planners a favor", FORGET ABOUT IT! If you need a favor so bad find one of the many company drivers sitting on their duffs to do it for you. I'm out there to make money.

    blsqueak Thanks this.

I don't have experience except as a company driver, and Denver has usually been pretty good to me.
    Didn't mean to ruffle feathers.

All it does is reinforce my desire to NOT lease or own my own truck while at Swift.
I hear about this garbage all too often, that the L/O and O/O people are treated with disrespect when you should be at the top of the food chain.

I put up with a little BS as a company driver, as it should be.
I am only a grunt, and I'm too lazy to put the time and effort in to do what you do.

But those of you that are paying your own bills should be treated much better.
