A21CAV, that could not have been today.
That area was sunny and clear, the storm had passed. Even the wind had died down.
Between Laramie and Cheyenne it was perfectly normal. Not even a spot of snow on the road.

I used your link to find it, and it was dated 11/08. Today is 11/12.
But, I'm glad I missed that one as well.

And like I've said many times... I'm a chicken.
I don't drive in those conditions. If I had any hint of conditions like that I would have been shut down for the duration.

Oops ! I agree with you completely about running in that crap . I'm not so concerned about what I might do as I am about what the idiots might do .

In the winter I run I-10 from Florida to California and just don't deal with it anymore . I've averaged over 2500 miles a week the last two winters and have had to shut down for weather twice . Both times in El Paso for ice storms in the Fort Stockton area.

    Moosetek13 Thanks this.

I'm still at the Denver terminal in the shop.
They fixed one problem today, an emission control something, but it didn't look like they would have time to do the windshield so I pulled it out and started some dinner. They will do it first thing in the morning.

And then I wait for a load out. Loads seem scarce here right now. Even mentors are having a hard time getting out.

I'm about 2 miles away at the TA east. Picking up a glass bottle load headed for Ft Worth in the morning.

    Not even 2 miles.

You didn't say if you have waited for a load, but you may have an advantage not being at a terminal.
I've heard in the past that that is the case. People in a terminal get loads after people outside the terminal.
Drivers are backed up here for loads, even mentors and O/O's.
And I've experienced it. Many times I'll get in Denver and stay at a TA and have a load right away, while others that are in the terminal (this one, or other locations) wait.
It's one of the reasons I tend to avoid terminals.

Since Miller/Coors "parked their attitude" I don't mind going to the brewery there at all.

I had a load out before I got here. Remember, your truck is in shop status which prevents you from being planned.

I wasn't expecting to get a pplan while in shop status. I'm really not that new here.

I got the truck out of shop status at 1020 this morning, and no loads.
    It's now about 2030.

I'm due back here on Friday for home time with my girls.
Here's hoping for a decent load out of here tomorrow so I can avoid the big snow storm coming Monday. With any luck I'll get a load back just after the storm.

I would have liked to see them while I was here, but there was no transportation.
They don't have a car so I need the truck to get there.

I'll be up when the planners come in. Maybe they can find the right combination of loads for me.
    If I'm very lucky.

Its funny you should say that about being parked in a term and having to wait to get a PP. I find myself getting PP'ed before doing a t call at a term. Then getting there and seeing usually dozens of trks sitting there, while I am under a new load.

    huh???

Yeah, since K marts pulled out of the Denver/Brighton CO area, that really took a big bite out of what freight they have for that area.

But the strangest thing I was told by another O/O is that the Denver plnrs where told to give Co drivers the freight to keep them moving and that O/O's where to pick up the slack. Or in other words, given the scraps and left overs, while the Co drvrs get the good loads.

I don't know if that's true or not, but sometimes I really do believe its the new game in town, or with Swift altogether, but who knows?

    don
