Just south of Atlanta, GA.
My load delivered this morning at 0700 just west of Atlanta and I was out by 0800.
A very easy live unload, I must say. I was the only truck there that early.
I waited in the parking lot for 3 hours waiting on a new pplan, as the one I had was removed early this morning.
Got tired of waiting and went to the Petro.
20 minutes before I would have had to pay for parking I got a pplan, but it doesn't pick up until tomorrow at 1600.
They did a fine job avoiding layover pay, eh? But at least I avoided the parking fee. I found a Pilot about 7 miles from my pickup, although 5 miles further on I-85.
Knoff1, there is no real credibility problem unless actual promises were broken.
In both MsJamie's and blsqueak's cases, they got there just a little too late and the positions were already filled.
That's trucking for you.
If a shipper needs a driver right now, and not tomorrow, someone else might get left behind.

Terminal El Paso. Woke this morning to a pplan, Tolleson Costco to Vegas. Not happening. Next pplan, Terminal to San Antonio. Then talked to my DM regarding some issues and my next home time and before even got off the phone Lancaster stacked me. Amazon to Amazon for 262 miles, Dallas, and then pick up in Grand Prairie going to San Diego for Tuesday. My next home time on the 21st in Goodyear. DM says good plan since do not need to be home for Christmas and there will be many loads that have t-called in the yard there and will be able to grab a nice one staying south and heading east over the holiday.
Moose, regarding what I was told the day before I arrived in SLC to start dedicated I was told that I am on the board, and then the next morning was told that change of plans. My slot went to a company driver, just like Ms. Jamie's. So this cost me money and miles -
So what does Swift get out of it, placing a company driver in that position over you and Jamie?
What am I not understanding? -
Keeps a company truck rolling more and I would go out on a limb here and say that Swift can keep more of the profit by using the company truck, such as what they get for the mile and what they would pay the L/O as opposed to what pay the company driver. That would be my guess
-
But from what I have experienced, those accounts do less miles per day.
They pay a lot, for sure. And who knows how much Swift gets out of it.
I don't have a clue. All I know is I want no part of a blitz or surge. -
Reality in the corporate world where there is no honor , only numbers .

Well, I am a company driver. However, what was explained to me is that Swift wants to keep the company trucks earning, as they are the ones making the lease payments (yes, company trucks are leased as well). Swift doesn't make the payments for the lease op trucks, so they have no financial incentive to keep them moving.
