Grand Junction, CO at the Pilot.
After I delivered to Kroger this morning I waited a couple hours for a load.
I got a Target load that gave me a bit over 300 miles. It rounded the day out nicely.
And after 5 years in this biz I still can't always set up the back just right.
I found the spot I wanted and tried to set up, but I was a little off.
I needed to pull up a few more feet to straighten out, but if I did I would have hit the truck next to me.
That driver pulled out a bit so I could reposition, which I thanked him for after I parked.
No pplan yet, and there are a lot of Swift trucks around.

Well, near brushes with death seem to becoming a regular occurrence. West bound on US 54 right at the New Mexico/Texas border, CRST comes over the hill around the bend splitting the center line and was still coming over as came over the hill ... went all the way over to the shoulder and he finally corrected while he was half in my lane just before he head on'd me ...

Glad you're OK, Mystic.
I'm at the TA in Rawlins.
From Grand Junction I got a load picking up in Green River, WY going to Laredo.
The load was already late picking up when I got the pplan this morning. It came with a note saying to pick it up asap and they would tell me what to do with it later. I knew I didn't have the hours coming in to deliver it on Monday, but I took it.
It's a very nice load, 1385 loaded and 250 empty. I'm hoping it doesn't get t-called along the way.
I sent a mac 22 after the loaded call saying that I would deliver on Tuesday at 1200. I got the usual PTA Update message.
That first 250 miles was a bear. Beautiful drive, but very slow in many parts with all the (sometimes snow covered) twisty roads.
I had never taken that route before, so I got to see something new for a change.
I stopped short of my hours today because there were some pretty high winds between here and Laramie. They should die down just a bit in the morning, before getting really bad tomorrow night through Tuesday.
I'll make it through just in time, it seems. -
I got a message at 0330 this morning asking for my exact location to help with a possible repower of my load.
That's kinda funny, considering when I call for fuel or onroad they usually tell me exactly where I am without asking.
So I replied with my location.
Nothing came of it and I still have the load.
I'm now in Lamar, CO. I have a whole 9 hours to work with tomorrow, so it's going to be a very early morning on Tuesday to make Laredo by noon.
Tomorrow is a milestone.
It's the big six Oh!
Hopefully I won't turn into a pumpkin or something at midnight.Buckeye91 Thanks this. -
Have a safe and happy birthday!

Petro, Milan, NM. Delivery in Monro, MI on Wednesday. See what kind of games the planners want to play then. Took this load only because after being out ill for a few days, 2k miles for the pay week. Probably against my better gut feeling since kept telling the planners in PHX that I am staying South and all that they wanted to throw my way was going north, or 45k going to Lancaster for the holidays

Hey, I hit the big 60 just about 8 days ago and still not a pumpkin
Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
Thanks.
And, what use is Life if you can't maintain a good cynical attitude about it?
A person that is not a cynic, just hasn't lived or experienced enough.
Even God is a cynic.
God is the Ultimate cynic, in every way possible.
Who am I to go against that kind of perspective!? -
If it doesn't happen at midnight, it won't.
Happy 60th.blsqueak Thanks this.
