FWIW I am definitely not a Swifty any more.
I took a job with Duncan & Son Lines, a Phoenix based outfit that runs primarily between Phoenix and the ports of Los Angeles & Long Beach. So far all I've done is go back and forth between Phoenix and their drop yard in Long Beach. Even though I already have a TWIC card they won't let me run to the ports until I spend 3 days with a trainer going to all the various ports. A stark contrast to Swift tossing me into the lion's cage without so much as a manual.
Do I miss Swift......sometimes. DSL uses Peoplenet instead of QualCom (or OmniTracs as it's called now) and it SUCKS! That said, better than paper logs. It's a small company (180 trucks/480 chassis) and everybody is very hands on. A HUGE contrast to the overpaid college educated knotheads running the show at Swift.
I'm home for the 2nd time this week and will be home over the weekend.
Oh, I REALLY miss my Freightliner!

Swift actually overpays some people?
Well, I mean, aside from the big guy and a few friends. -
Moosetek13 Thanks this.

I don't wanna have to buy new drives yet! How am I even supposed to make an informed decision when I can't find out the prices on the national account?
-
HousTank Thanks this.

They can only give you a ball park. Final price will depend on the casing credit, install cost ... etc. -
I can get a set of Aeolus or Dayton drives for about $2500. The Lancaster terminal wants $3750 for a set of Bridgestones.

Rapid Response can't even give me a number, they still say they have no idea how much the tires cost because the prices change weekly. They're just as useless as usual.

Well, I finally have some home time.
I woke up this afternoon to no pplan, so I called a planner. He said there were no loads so I asked him to reposition me to Inver Grove, and he did.
I'm a happier camper tonight.
And I don't think I have ever seen the Inver Grove terminal so crammed full of trucks and trailers. It felt more like Denver with people parking anywhere and everywhere.
