When that happens to me I call the planner and ask who gave him/her the authority to suspend my lease with Swift. I then call that terminal's manager and ask the same question. I usually get mumbled excuses but my pta gets set back to where I want it and left alone.

When I got to the terminal to pick up my first load I only had 3.5 hours of time left on my 70.
2 of that was used for that first load. So I went home for the day.

The system thinks it is only 9 miles away, and the trip plan message only allows 10 minutes for the drive.
Well, it is 21 miles and around 30-35 minutes - in good traffic. I was given the next load, which was expecting me to t-call by 1430. Good luck with that timing. I did a mac 22 saying I would do it tomorrow morning.

It is nice being home for the next few days, with no actual timed loads.

On another note, I got a new knife the other day.
There is a knife shop in Lebanon, MO that I like and I found it there.
I was going for a fixed blade this time, around the same length as my last folding knife.

As I was browsing the Buck knives I found a very exceptional one.
It is the Verge (model 019). It is also a limited edition.

    A work of art.

    I could not resist.

Well, that was a short gig.
I finished those 3 loads but never received any more plans. I tried calling the planner but couldn't get through to him.
I had noticed several Walmart blitz loads being dropped when I brought in that last load. I guess extra help was enlisted.

Before I brought the paperwork in I got pplan going to Buffalo, NY, picking up at the terminal. Over 900 miles so I took it. One nice thing about this load is that I don't have to pick it up until tomorrow morning. A lot of my stuff is still here at home, so I needed to get back here anyway. And now I can make up a batch of chicken fried rice to bring with me.

Another nice thing was the thank you message sent by the planner. He thanked me for my help and informed me that I had made $180 for those 3 short loads.

When a Denver planner did this to me I called and asked who was in charge of the planners. Was told, "terminal manager," so I left him a voice mail. When we talked he kept telling me I didn't have any proof and making excuses for the planners. Our conversation ended with me cussing him out. An hour later he called back telling me he found out who did it and assured me it wouldn't happen again. I apologized for my unprofessional behavior.

Considering the trouble I had with the Denver planners for the next year I like Frank's method better.

    Elgin, IL at the TA.
It was nice getting a couple unscheduled days at home, and now I'm back on the road and headed for Buffalo, NY.

As usual the system is routing me around the tolls, but this time I am going the more direct route along I-90.
Maybe I will get yelled at about it. ?

But I'm really getting tired of going the long way with no pay compensation.
Swift saves on tolls, but I lose time and money in the process.
And my thinking is that the extra fuel and driver pay might just match that of paying the tolls, IF they paid me for all those extra miles.

I always stayed out of the norrheast. Nothing north of north carolina or chicago and east. Anyways..if the route they sent was longer than what they payed me... i called my dm and he would fix it. Some times he wasnt able to for some reason but most of times he did

In my experience it is always... 'we'll split the difference with you'.
Which means if I drive 100 extra miles I will get paid for 50.

But I got tired of trying to get what I am due, and not getting it.
If they want me to avoid the toll roads they can pay me for the actual difference in time and miles.
And if they call me on this one I'll just say... 'I'll split the difference with you, as you have done so often. I've run the last 4 loads in this area going by the fuel route and eating the extra miles and time. The next few are on you.'

And as an o/o we can run any route and all tolls are paid via EZ pass or reimbursed, no questions asked. Moose, I'm not so sure they would even bother to say anything to you if you ran the tolls.
