Get to Richmond shop and ask Neal to fix it. Tell him I sent you.

This has been a week of heartache and too much road carnage. I struggle with the "holidays" in a normal year but this one has been a test.

For you "youngsters", an often painful part of the aging process is hearing of the loss of those who are placeholders in the story of your life. For me its been Percy Sledge, John Glenn and a few notable others.

Tonight I learn why I had a sense of foreboding; there has been a great disturbance in the force.

She did have a wonderful life however, and had an impact on many people.

Come to the dark side. Least she was able to give a final performance.

Both my autos you just had to tap the fuel when the engine light flashes. If it's a Detroit, it should have an override switch, try clicking that 3 times when the light flashes if it does.

If it's temp controlled, then idk. There are some shade tree ways of fixing those I heard.

Autos on snow and ice, with chains and without I didn't have a problem, but you can't rock the things, more troublesome in the parking lot on ice. I just always tried to keep it moving till I got to a place I knew I should be able to take off from. This winter I've been in a few many situations that I'm thankful to have a clutch under foot.

It is a Detroit, but I haven't seen any kind of override switch.
I'll try the fuel tap. Thanks.

Only other thought, could be opti idle. And I have no clue how to operate that stuff. The truck starts itself and turns itself off to maintain a certain temp. Don't know how it works though.

They disable the op idle on many that came with them, mine had it didn't work and I have used them many times at other companies. I'm gonna say Swift disables any with it for best in class safety reasons, you can find it in old Central trucks. Had temp below 20 or above 70 to idle only. Had temp sensor go out one time and would not idle ever. I said this is hitler #### then it was disabled idle all day long now, but I'm good about idle care.

I found the switch and tried it. 5 minutes later the lights were flashing again.
    So I blipped the throttle.

    It is not opti idle.

I may have a bad battery. Everything started to shut down as I was cooking dinner, so I started the truck.
Then I could not disable the shut down.

It is really irritating that I can't control how I idle when I really need to.
And it just shut down again, so the throttle didn't work either.
It must be temp controlled, so I will have to see if the next shop I'm at will disable that.

    FerrissWheel Thanks this.

I read on another thread the temp sensor is somewhere on the driver's side mirror housing. I believe on the bottom. Others have taped those little self heating pads people slip into their socks when hunting etc...when it is hot to keep it running for AC and something cold when trying to keep it going in cold but not cold enough weather. I guess either extreme that would keep it going regardless of what reason you are trying to idle. I do not have first hand knowledge of this so cannot verify if that is the case. Worth a try I guess if you find the sensor.
