Weed, CA at the Pilot.
Snow and extreme winds, so I am shut down until morning.
Hopefully not longer.

What's this snow you speak of?
-
Snow is a water condition whereby which the water freezes in a fluffy state.
From what I understand, the flakes of snow are quite unique unto themselves, in that no two snow flakes are identical to another.
I consider that conclusion as a false positive.
Just because 'they' have never observed two identical flakes does not mean it doesn't happen, considering the trillions of flakes falling in all the snow storms in the world.
I would really like to see a comprehensive study that collects all the snow flakes to compare them.scottied67 and FerrissWheel Thank this. -
But here?
Trucks are sliding tires even with chains.
The ambient temperature is around 35, so everything is slush and slippery.
It stays frozen, probably because of the wind. But it is a mess.
I will look out the window to see what is going on.
Trucks trying to park, trucks trying to get out. And many times no one moves for 10-30 minutes.
And the snow just keeps coming down.
I just wonder how many trucks will be in a ditch in the morning.FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
I'll be in Laredo in the morning where tomorrow's forecast calls for highs in the 80s.

Ya.
That place can be good or bad, depending on when and what you need. -
The 49er in Sacramento.
Bounced around Central California, delivered a short run from Lathrop (van) yesterday after I deliverd my glass. Went to Oakland for some big steel supports of some kind. Me and the other driver have several theories. Wasted alot of time in traffic. Was weaving about fighting the wind.
Fueled up here, website said they were holding trucks on Donner cause of spinouts. And 41 miles of chains. But there were high wind warnings on a few passes when I checked. And if the wind is as bad up there as it is down here, screw that, I'll deal with it in the morning with a full clock to burn. If the pass is even open. Headed to SLC.
Got a student going through tie down class in Phoenix. Gonna try to rendevous in SLC.
I'm sure the BS about snow flakes being unique was from some 19th century guy who looked at like 50 snow flakes and concluded (they are all different.)
But physics dictates that there is a limited set of factors that causes the multitude of crystal formations. Therefore it is likely there are many of the same snowflake.
In fact.

It's not peer reviewed, but I'm not taking the effort to open up plosone or Google scholar, or logging into my UNLV library account that accesses nearly every journel over a snow flake.Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
