Doing something stupid, like ignoring the PrePass signal and going with the Drivewyze (or whatever the stupid thing is called on the QC) and blowing by a weigh station?
There is nothing 'wise' about that thing.
More than once it has given me bad information, but I always go with the PrePass signal or the posted signs.
I guess it isn't so with many drivers, considering the message that came through today about it.
Bottom line with that message is...
Ignore that stupid program!

I always tell my students to ignore it. Follow the signs and prepass.
It wasn't long ago we got a message that it was to not be followed anyway.
I never trusted it, and it contradicts the prepass too often. Which honestly once is too often for me.
Usually you can't blow by a boarder check. At least I can't think of many where that would be possible. -
And if they send a message saying to ignore it... why not remove it altogether?
This latest message is just another reason to remove that program from the QC. -
I agree. I understand that it was put there so the Qualcomm would alert to an up coming weigh station. But it's also telling to bypass when you shouldn't.
But at this point the far more annoying "approaching weigh station" alert that would yell at you like 10 times wad far more effective/useful.
I'd rather none of it be there honestly, but I understand they are trying to make sure drivers don't blow weigh stations.
Prepass is enough for me. And my Rand McNally already gave me these alerts effectively enough. Just in case I was for whatever reason in lala land or distracted by FedEx trying to run me off the road.
They gave it a go. With most states it's unsupported crap, time to move on to something else. Or just have it always say "follow road signs."Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
Nogales, AZ at the Pilot.
Picked up a load from the drop yard headed to Hollister, CA.
The load assignment gave a weight of 0002. Go figure. But it is still a very light load at around 9.5k. That will be nice over Grapevine for sure. It's a load of the little plastic baskets that strawberries come in. -
Coachella CA.
Delivered lumber, went over to the Phoenix yard.
They had switched my load 3 or 4 times earlier in the morning.
So I strap down some verco heading to Irvine. Get out the gate and down the road. Get a call from my DM. "Are you gone already?,,, I was hoping you'd be slower."
So I head back to Phoenix grab two promasters and a pallet of dunnage going to Jurupa Valley.
As long as there is no further tomfoolery, Im Supposed to get some coils in Fontana heading to Irvine TX.
In other news my shirt could be wrung out and turned into a salt lick brick. Spent way more time in the sun today than I planned on. -
Trying to figure your route. Why would you be hitting the grapevine?scottied67 Thanks this.

I-19 N, I-10 W, CA / I-210W, I-5 N and then over to Hollister.
That is Grapevine going I-5 N out of the L.A. area, right?
How would you go from here to there? -
Me personally I try to avoid LA area even on the weekends. I would take I19 to I10 to us60 to us93 to I40 to ca58 to I5
Be about 50 miles longer plus only 9k in box that's the way I would go. Now if it was a heavy load Iwould go your way less hilly -
50 more miles and more hills... ?
If I can get through the LA area at the right time it should be fine.
Plus, I really like going that way when I'm light. It isn't that often that I can pass other trucks. It's fun.
I can actually be a swift Swift up those hills.RedRover Thanks this.
