While with a trainer you're paid the state minimum wage of your home address for all driving or on duty time. I live in VA and it came to around $500/wk.

After training I started at 38 cpm. It might be 39 cpm starting now, not sure. Reefer started 1 cpm higher.

I started w/ Swift in Nov. 2017, so this info is a little over a year old.

I ended up talking with a recruiter...Because I live in upstate NY my home terminal would be Syracuse NY...He said I would run the five north eastern states and starting pay would be .55/mile...That's the highest starting cpm I've ever heard of for anyone coming right out of CDL school..too bad I want to go OTR all 48

Sounds like he was offering you a dedicated position. If you still want to run OTR you can do that. Pretty sure the starting rate is still 38cpm but after the first month or so you will be eligible for your quarterly bonus and you’d probably come in around 40-42cpm.

Spoke to my DM earlier and she said Laredo and SoCal are both areas you definitely want to head to right now. Both areas were extremely short on freight. She had a team that sat for two days in CA and a driver in Laredo for three days.

This where Knight screwed over Swift. The spot market is fairly robust in SoCal right now, but Knight no longer allows Swift to run spot market to smooth over the rough patches.

Basically anywhere east of I-35 and south of I-40 is a really, really bad place to go unless you want some extended time off. I wouldn't advise landing in Laredo, Georgia or the Carolinas.

Got a load going to Calexico. Wonder how I'll fare? Really don't feel like sitting down there.

Back from home time and on my way to MI.
My pre-loaded turned into a live load, but it didn't take too long. And only 10k, so I'll be flying on all those huge mountains.

This was my week for a DOT physical. All went well and I'm good for another year.

Got a pplan earlier. A 1200 mile load going to FL. Florida is bad enough, but a 38k load that requires me to tailgate - I turned it down. I'm too old for that kind of work.

I agree 100%. Not worth the effort (considering the money)

I'm headed for S Florida with a light weight T J Maxx load. I know the perils of Florida but could not turn down a single load which will make my entire week.

At the Pilot in Rhome, TX. First time here (it's fairly new) and so far, so good. I supposed to drop on Sunday despite the fact I have til the 15th to get it there.

Anyone know a good place to hide out on the west side of Miami?

So you're telling me it was a BIG mistake taking a load to S Florida?
