DP, I commend you on your willingness to run in California. Between the traffic, brain-dead 4-wheeler drivers, the 55 mph speed limit AND the lane controls I find it a high workload environment. PLUS my truck is geared TALL meaning it absolutely will not run in high gear @ 55 mph.

Taking a 10 at Petro in OKC. Got a drop n hook in Edmond, OK after midnight. Then roll empty to pick up a load out of Liberal going to Chicago.. First time going into Chicago and a little nervous. Making sure my route to the final is solid. Short bridges all over the place.

Avoid fueling at the Loves in South Holland, IL if you're loaded. The right turn to get in is practically impossible to make without running over the curb, sometimes WAY over, unless there's no one waiting on the light to get out.

Winds were horrible going thru Victorville to here. Glad I was 79820.
This Load I picked up I Victorville was a real pain. Security had a hard time pri.timg b.o.l. so I had to go back to their office to get one done.
Lady at first said trailer left this morning
I Said it couldn't have it's on my truck lol.
Drivers were a pain going up the Cajon pass
Slow trucks were not getting back in the slow lane. I was empty and was able to pass everyone once they moved.
    Hopefully tomorrow is better.

I learned how to drive a truck in CA (back in the 70s) so I understand what's going on better than most.

That's the one thing I appreciate most about having my own truck. I get it serviced on my schedule. My last home time I dropped it @ Inland Kenworth in Tolleson, AZ and they got it back to me in 1 day for considerably less than what TA charged me for less.
