I dropped yesterday at the Grantsville, UT WalMart DC. They wouldn't give me an empty (said they needed them for loads) so I bobtailed to the J @ Lakepoint. 5 minutes after I parked I got a trailer solution, you guessed it, back to Grantsville for an MT. Took me nearly 2 hours to convince the braindead ECT that despite what her screen was telling her that there were no MTs available and I wasn't going back.
Finially got a trailer from a tire warehouse next door to the West Valley terminal.

A the J in Cheyenne. I drop tomorrow in Thorton, CO.

I got home early this afternoon.

The past couple days my DM has been saying he needs to see me, so come in to the terminal when I get here instead of heading straight home.
Sounded a bit ominous. I then looked at my drive cam videos and saw that there was one that was not resolved. I had nearly run a red light so I had a hard braking event, and I had crossed the white line by about 15 feet before I could get stopped.
Then yesterday I was called as I was picking up my Costco load in Morris, IL. I came up for a random drug test, and I had to do it right then.
It all had me a bit worried.

I delivered my load and headed to the terminal. When I walked in Chris asked if I had spoken to the safety guy yesterday. I said no, but the FM sent me for a drug test.
He was relieved. I had come up for a random a couple weeks ago and he kept forgetting to corner me at one of the many terminals I had been at, and the deadline was coming up.
I told him I thought this was about the drive cam event, and he said, 'What event?'.
He even had a hard time finding it because I had been in that loaner truck.
When he saw it he said "It happens", and showed me how to do the self coaching thing. No big deal.
During the conversation he said I was his safest driver, which made feel good, and made me wonder about what some of the other drivers were doing out there.
But coachable events with the drive cam are very few and far between with me.

Then I headed to the parts room.
I wanted one of those sweet thick mattresses that I had gotten in that loaner truck.
They had it, I got it, and I will be sleeping much better when I go back out.

My 17 year old daughter, Leann, will be going with me until my next home time.

    dwells40 Thanks this.

If your dl tells you they want to see you but doesnt give a reason why , you can pretty much guarantee its for a random lol

That is probably common, but my experience has also been the DM calling me to tell me to be at a certain truck stop on my route - and then call him.
They usually do not wait until I am coming in on home time.

Most often I've gotten the call just as I am coming off home time just before I pick up a load.
They watch to see when you start your pre-trip, then call you.
Makes sense, especially if they want to catch a violation, since you might have done things while at home.

Denver East TA (AKA Commerce City). Got here just after 9:00 this morning and got one of the few open "free" spots. Place was full by 10:00. This place has as many "pay" (reserved) spots as free, and every one of them is full!

Dropped @ Cabela's in Thorton this morning, Denver planned me on a load back to Salt Lake tomorrow which I took rather than spend all day hoping for something better. I walked over to the Shops @ Northfield where I did a bit of shopping and had lunch.

If that is indeed what they are doing it's not "random" and a violation of federal law.

I think I was selected for a random and they waited until I got off home time to call me for it.
It is better than being called during my home time.

It's my understand that they CANNOT call you for a random during hometime.

When I was an account manager I got a quarterly list of the drivers needing a random that were on the account..
as they cane into the office that’s when I sent them to get it done. The clinic was only a mile away. I had 90 days to get them all done, usually had it done in 2-3 weeks.
