haha I just left there after I asked them to reposition me to San Antonio. What did they do? The moved me to El Paso and it is worse here !!!
WTH is that all about? Must be 75+ bobtails back here !!! I said SA not EL take a 48 hour nap !!! -
Gary terminal. My Volvo developed a air leak so took it to the shop here on my way to Morris. All fixed up in a couple hours so finishing out my 10 here before my delivery tomorrow. Sunday seems to be a good day to get in the shop here, been no line both times I came on Sunday but during the week its 5-6 trucks deep. FYI Gary is now wanting to see your CDL and medical card to t-call a load and checking locks on the way out. From what I was told the number one citation costing Swift CSA points is not having a valid medical card on you, thats why they are checking. Lots of drivers sitting here waiting on loads too, think the weekend has been slow everywhere.

El Paso still. I seem to recall this time with my mentor involved me doing some driving. Not sure, seems to be a fuzzy memory... Looking forward to being on the road tomorrow and proving the power of positive thinking.

Might also be in preparation (somehow) for this:
§ 391.41 Physical qualifications for drivers.
(2) CDL exception. (i) Beginning January 30, 2012, a driver required to have a commercial driver's license under part 383 of this chapter, and who submitted a current medical examiner's certificate to the State in accordance with § 383.71(h) of this chapter documenting that he or she meets the physical qualification requirements of this part, no longer needs to carry on his or her person the medical examiner's certificate specified at § 391.43(h), or a copy.
If there is no medical certification information on that driver's CDLIS motor vehicle record defined at 49 CFR 384.105, a current medical examiner's certificate issued prior to January 30, 2012, will be accepted until January 30, 2014. After January 30, 2014, a driver may use a copy of the current medical examiner's certificate that was submitted to the State for up to 15 days after the date it was issued as proof of medical certification. -
I'm just going by what I was Told about the Med card. I did get a letter from IL about what you mentioned. Apparently what they are doing is if you renew your CDL before the end of Jan 2014 ( mine expires Jan 2013) you must bring in the long form when you renew. If yours expires after 2014 you must make a special trip there to show them it. It is nothing new being required to have a medical card on you, the rule you quote will actually make it so it is on your CDL and once that is fully in effect no more medical card will need to be carried.
BigBusMan, I run all 48 but it I spend 99% of my time in the midwest or east coast. As far as training I don't think I would have the patience for it and I had a hard enough time running team while I was in training with an experienced driver behind the wheel. Sleeping in a moving truck is just not for me.BigBusMan Thanks this. -
You might want to read the letter again.
Mine stated I have to provide it to Springfield in January 2012. -
When does your CDL expire?
