On the one hand, I completely understand your frustration. You saw that as getting you home. You will get paid the same amount whether the truck moves 300 miles or 3,000 miles.
Your mentor saw a series of loads going less than 300 miles on each of five days. If he's a lease op, it would have cost him money to run that, even as a solo. As a team and with the right timing, that load could be done in Phoenix on the 25th. That's what he's looking at. Forgetting, I'm sure, that there is someone else on the truck anxious to head west, who deserves an explanation as to why the trip getting him home was declined.
Good night from...

What a day.. what a day..!
Delivered my load out in Scottsbluff, NE I sent in my mt call and waited 30 mins, no pp, so I booked over to some truck stop, still nothing after 1½hrs. 6hrs left on dot.
Nother swift pulls in, we talk and go have breakfast and shoot the ####, hour killed. Go back no pp, 1hr goes by, boom "Planners Special" pp.. hmm, nope can make del, p/u fine, send mac9 asking for 3 extra hours on del time, as i had to shut down early due to lack of remaining hour for today, then my 10, i needed the 3 hrs and that would be close... 45mins go bye, boom, plan taken off.. ok screw it.
Hour goes by, ding, phone sends me pp, wtf... same one, ok they reset del time... nope. All they did was send me 80+ miles to cabellas to drop my mt, drive 40 miles to pick up the load and bring it 89 miles to a Flying J for a TCall, so here I sit waiting on other driver to pick it up so he can deliver it..... get this guys.... 2 days later than original pp delivery time.. wtf...
So while im waiting on my tcall driver, I get another "planners special" pp. Beer load out to kansas from a drop yard in colorado 278mi run, pfft nothing special about this load either.
So here I sit on I25 exit 2 in Wyoming.. I hate to say it but im missing the east coast, least there I was running longer than a fart linger in my cab.
Ok, rant over, sorry...scottied67 Thanks this. -
Canyonville. I think they miss me in Grandview. I called today and the dispatcher said, "It's really good to hear your voice." And he really meant it. Heck, I just talked to him yesterday.

Sitting in Swift's outpost on the Northern Frontier ... Pick up a short hop over to MI tomorrow to deliver Wednesday morning.
-
They don't send me loads like that any more, they send me loads like that where I had to tcall and I ran pass the tcall and go str8 to the final, I did it 3 times and they never send me another one, but if they do they already know if I have time to deliver it ontime I'm not stopping at the tcall.
And its crazy they gave the other driver 2 extra days to get there but they couldn't give u 3 extra hrs. -
Atlanta yard, for a reset

Thanks Injun had a talk with him,he finaly realized that running the loads was beter than sitting in Lancaster,he called his dm and the loads were still available so we are running them....Scottied no not the same actually he's a good guy,way beter than the trainer I had when I was with England....he just doesn't run too hard

Figured out what "Planners Special" means today... means yer dealing with a "special" planner that's completely incapable of doing his/her job.
They sent me to a drop yard to snag my load that was 'saposidly' tcalled here.. my trlr isn't, called a dm in Phx, nope its over in Fort Collins @ budweiser still.. ill msg the planner and let you know... 1hr later, nothing.
2nd day in a row I've delt w/ this planner(s), and im bout ready to call it and give up. I mean how can I do my job well when im relying on incompetent desk jockies.. -
Time to send a message: "Plz get me moving. They're threatening to put up a mailbox and charge me rent."
Or some such. If you have Macro 30, send it every hour. If it won't work because you're committed to that load, suggest they deadhead you to go get it. -
Glade Spring, VA. Sent a pplan this morning, dh 100 miles, and deliver noon weds, 170 miles. Nope, not having any of that. Then within 10 mins, up to the drop yard outside of Buffalo, 11K lbs of tires, 670 miles to NC. Perfect. Have to say, really pushing it. All of a 2 hour cushion, but end of the week over 3k miles ldd.
