Still at the TA in Morris, IL, 34 wil be over early tomorrow am.

Got a preplan on a short load from Walmart DC to Walmart DC, 350 miles, so I took it.

An hour later I get back to back PPs on my phone, one that picks up tonight and the other a t-called load in MI. WTF?

So I crank up the Qualcom and about the time everything starts to load I get a call from some terminal manager asking for a "favor". Seems they need a Home Depot load picked up tonight and delivered tomorrow with 2 stops. The t-called load is "payback" for the favor.

Problem is my 34 isn't up til tomorrow in the am AND I've been up all day and refuse to drive all night. So I turned both down. Problem is they took my simple Walmart DC load off of me and now I'm without a load and on their "list".

I'd get mad, but what good would it do?

Savanna, OK. I had a gut feeling to go a little OOR today and just stay on 44 all the way to OKC and then shoot down 35, but I went with the GPS. SHould have gone with my gut. I remember why I hate US-69. Deliver in the morning and still waiting on a pplan getting me home. MAC 30 shows nothing.

When I get a pplan I punch it in to the GPS (RM 510) to see the actual miles and ETA.
But, so often, the GPS does not route correctly.
Very often, the Qcom does a better job.

But I go with it for accepting or rejecting a load.

And I also get out the atlas to check my route, to see what might be best.

When in doubt - go with your gut.

Yeah, the loaded miles was 900 miles, GPS 923, and if stayed on 44 to OKC to 35, it was have about 950. would have saved some time, also wear and tear on the truck

Somewhere west of Little Rock with a nice 6500lb load. Was sent it in a pplan this morning, declined due to home req, then resent a little later, t-call in Columbus on Sunday. Found out something today. Asked about reimbursement reqarding using straps or load lock in a trailer that is being t-called and sealed, and was told, that unless the customer call for the use, then no. So my answer to that, if it needs securement and the customer does not call for it, then away I go. PU'd one that they took 3 of my straps, load assign did not state it, but big sign when getting the load, required, but because it is not in the instructions for the customer, sorry, you lose. Remember, L/O. These where my straps, not Swifts. Already lost my load locks awhile ago. I was told that all that I need to do, wait until I get a load that requires them, then purchase before arrive shipper, and will get reimbursed. Fine and good, accept what happens when arrive, then find out that they require.

But but but, why be proactive when you can be reactive?
