Home Sweet Home. Fly to Chicago on Wednesday. My 3 months of single life is over. The little wymin is coming home. Flying to meet her. Already having the maid service over on Wednesday. She is the wife of a friend of mine, and Filipino, so I know that this home will be spotless when Susan gets home.

I woke around midnight to find my phone blinking, text message with another preplan. At first I was going to ignore it (as it didn't go west) then decided to take a look. Ottawa, KS to Atlanta, drop-n-hook on both ends, delivers Wed....so I took it. Will make for a good (not great) week, then I can head west for a day at Disneyland with the family.

Sitting at the Love's in Ottawa as the load doesn't pick up til tomorrow morning.

C'mon Squeak getting to hometime from anywhere is a pain in the *****.

But I know Steve can't wait for the heat, the crowds, the cranky kids, the cramped hotel room, his mother in law, the whooshing sound as money is sucked out of his wallet, and worst of all his pyscho wife who would live there. But he is earning Brownie Points, by making his wife EXTREMELY happy, and extra credit points from his oldest who really wants Dad there, so he isn't stuck with grandma, mom and the pesky little brother.

Showed up for my unload this morning , 2 other swift trucks there ALL of us had 07:30
    on our plans.

Sent a message asking if the planners thought 2 of us would be late.
Never got an answer ... what a surprise.

Well, if it is Plus-1 planning, of course it set you all up for the earliest delivery time.

I usually add a few hours to the delivery time to give some leeway. And I don't know how many times I've come in the last of 3 or 4 other drivers that ended up sitting for a few hours to get unloaded.
And since I got there after the rush, I get right in - after I've had a few extra hours sleep.
And I waste less of my hours waiting.

You can use Plus-1 to your own advantage.

Walmart parking lot in Sacramento, shut down with 2 min left on 14

Left at 7:30 to head to San Leandro for my live unload, ended up getting there at 9:20 and there was a swift right in front of me on the street, we were delivering to a construction site, first guy went in one way and they told me to go in another on the side and after 2 hours of waiting they backed me out and guided me into the unload area. Another hour later I was finally unloaded. The DM I am working with sent a message a little after I got there "you were on time" well of course, I take my 100% seriously. I asked him why the comment later when I talked to him on the phone and he said every other driver was late today. You should know better when going into the bay area to give yourself at least an extra hour during the morning rush...
Getting out of the place was fun, had 2 workers help guide me backing up all the way back to the street while blocking traffic and then I had to jackknife it around the corner just to get going once on the street. If I didnt have spotters there is noway I would of got that done especially with impatient drivers most specific the waste management drivers wanting to get past and not wanting to give me 2 minutes to get free and out, there lot was next door.

Took the trailer and dropped it in Sacramento to add to my collection and then drove to the Walmart DC in Red Bluff to get a trailer there and take it back, I managed close to 450 miles today plus the live unload and 2 trailer drops so not too bad of a day. The DM said he wants to try and have us finished by the end of the week and then send us back south to start moving trailers, he said there is 150 trailers either going to or from sylmar? So I should be busy at least for a little while. The other guy has to take a 34 since he gains no hours tomorrow and only 3 the following day so should be easier for me to gather extra mt's.

Sitting at a Pilot just outside of Chattanooga, TN. I was supposed to go pick up a load at 3 this morning, run it up to KY, pick up another load in KY, and deliver in AL tomorrow afternoon for a total of about 950 miles to finish out the pay week. I was psyched because this was going to be my first good week in about a month at roughly 2800 miles with those two loads (which was great considering the past three weeks have been less than 2000 miles). I was woken up at midnight to the qualcomm going off, checked it, and the load out of TN was canceled, so I lost both loads. Figures. I got another load offering picking up at 7:30 tonight and also going up to KY tomorrow morning for a total of about 350 miles. I've only driven a whopping 500 miles the past 4 days. I'm going to check around when I get home at the end of the week to see who's hiring close to home. I've kept up with my DM about lack of miles, asked her what I can do to get more miles, rarely turn down loads -- and never without providing alt times if that's the issue, and stayed out an extra month this trip to try and keep some sort of continuity going, but I haven't gotten any answers as to anything I can do to help remedy this situation or what they're doing to help correct this. It's frustrating.

Girl, knowing your husband, he will head home mt if he has to. I know that he can not wait. He called me the other night. Gawd, dealing with both you and the mother in law, his poor wallet, well at least after all is done, his wallet will be poor.
