I'm in Iowa off the I-29 at a little truck stop.

I'm deadheading from Aberdeen, SD to Morris, IL - nearly 800 miles! I guess there are no loads nearby.
They wanted me there by tomorrow night but I don't quite have the hours on my 70 to make it before Monday morning.
Then I pick up a load at Costco by 0800 that delivers in WI, about 150 miles away, at 1600. So a lot of time to kill on that one.
The pplan actually had me picking it up by 0400, but a DM in Fontana told me it had until 0800 - so I did a Mac22 on my deadhead load with a 0730 'delivery' time.

Yeah, that is one stunning rest area. I was there about an hour before sunset with thunderheads gathering to the east and the sun lighting up the clouds. Then the driving got technical after that, and to top it off it was a Friday evening and it was a zoo down in the canyon with all the weekenders pulling boats up to the lake and RV's pulling into the campgrounds. Coming down the hill into Logan at night was pretty as well. I'm sure I'd have been there a couple hours earlier and about 20-30 gallons cheaper by going around on the freeway.

I took that 50 once heading to Pueblo CO but its not a drive I would want to do again in a truck, gorgeous scenery though and I do plan on taking a trip back someday but in a car and do some camping and fishing.

    Moosetek13 Thanks this.

Yeah, that's a nice drive... in a car. Done it before in the winter in a Subaru and it was interesting at times even with AWD, not the best option for a loaded truck.

Just dropped my trailer at the Target DC, parked bobtail waiting for a dispatch. Sunny day, slight dusting of snow in northern NM this morning but nothing to get excited about.

    Walcott, IA at the TA.

I had not finished my deadhead to Morris but they sent my load assignment anyway. I guess they figured I was close enough.
Instead of a 0400 pu time it was 0330.
Sheesh! It is 150 miles away with a delivery time of 1600.
The actual window for pu is until 0800, so I did a Mac22 with that time. I'll still have an extra 4 hours or so before it is due, so I'll get there ASAP and see if I can deliver early.
I'll only have a couple hours left on my 70 until the following day though, so it doesn't really matter. And the mt might not actually be mt when I get there, so I'll probably have to wait for it.
Maybe I'll stop and grab a shower, or see a movie or something, along the way.

Picked up my LAST load as a solo driver before going on team dedicated, a load of cans from the Rocky Mountain Container Company, in the Coors complex in Golden, CO. QC navigation system directs me to the initial guard gate of the Coors complex, about 2 miles away from actual destination. Google Maps doesn't show it correctly, either. After stopping at several locations within the complex I finally figure it out by "touring" on Google Maps in Street View.

By the time I finished pick up I've got less than 3 hours left on my 14, and there is NO way I'm going to proceed west over the Rockies with only that much time on my clock. What with the extremely limited truck parking in the "NO TRUCKS!" rest areas along the way, it's always best to start over the passes from Denver planning on getting all the way through Glenwood IMHO.

I'll likely t-call this load in Mira Loma by the end of the day on the 31st, then take a 34 and turn in my truck. On Friday I'll be getting into my partner's truck, leaving on Friday and headed for Pennsylvania. I think I'll like this TJ Maxx dedicated, with coast to coast runs and home every week for a reset. It will almost be like old times teaming with my brother.
