It seems highly unlikely that converting the tranny caused a huge drop in fuel mileage. A leaking charge air cooler or air to air hose connection possibly. Have you had the overhead set since you've had the truck? Might also think about getting an oil sample done and see if there is a lot of fuel dilution which could indicate a faulty injector.

Have you noticed any change in power? Does your truck have a boost gauge? If your turbo isn't working like it should it can cause poor fuel mileage just like a turned down engine will.

Ugh...could be so many things....I hate new trucks. lol

Oh, don't talk about charge air coolers. If it is that it can get costly in a hurry if you don't address it quickly. My brother got a leak after getting his fender ripped by a newbie in a truck stop. They didn't catch the CAC damage and he ended up replacing the turbo (which cracked), exhaust manifold (which cracked), injectors, and ultimately cracked cylinder head. Total cost was over $15K, not counting down time. It's a chain reaction of problems that first manifested itself with a sudden drop in fuel economy.

Anyone know the temperature where canned soft drinks can freeze? I'm sitting at the TA in Terrell, TX, where it's supposed to be in the teens by daybreak. I'm going to be idling tonight, since I have Florida fuel in the tanks...

Even with 'winterized' fuel in my tanks, I'm idling tonight. It's getting down to -11 here in MO. (actual, not wind chill)

Canned drinks will freeze in your home freezer in just a few hours, and they don't get all that much below 30 degrees.
Anyway, not your problem. If they freeze and blow up, well, I hope it is a drop load for you. Or you'll have a mess to get cleaned out.
If you're only getting down to the teens I wouldn't worry about it. The enclosed space and heat from the drinks should keep them OK for some time.

idle if its 20 degrees or lower. no matter where the fuel is bought. rather play it safe than wait for onroad to fix the jell fuel. was in albuquerque nm yesterday at 30 and now in pheonix az where i beleive it was in mid 70s.

I'd get that freezer checked. It should be down around 0. A chest freezer should be at least -20.

It's a live unload, unfortunately. May be looking for a nearby trailer wash...

Lisa's here in Moriarty, NM. Getting a whopping 5.7mpg now. Had some serious crosswinds in KS this morning, and then crossed into TX and had a nice tailwind all the way to Santa Rosa, and well, that changed.

Josh, KW checked the Cooler and hoses and all okay. They just could not do a Dyno. No machine. It will be going to either Cummins in Fontana on Tuesday or PHX on Wednesday. This is getting looked at. When KW did check they told that even with the winter fuel, I should be doing lots better than I am.

had a load to Grenada Hills then was supposed to get a Yussen then a load to a local store, left home and got to the DC at noon and they cut my trailer late at 13:30 which screwed my yussen up, made it back to the dc and did my arrival call and planner called me quickly telling me not to hook to the next load since the store just canceled asked if he had anything else for me and he said nope then a second later "can you handle a porterville load" yep give it to me! So I went and dropped in Porterville. He knows if I have hours and there is a load then I will do it. When I got back to the dc we will talking and I mentioned my favorite store and he said "Grenada Hills can be your favorite for now" I asked why and he said im going to Grenada Hills again tomorrow, he said the other loads wouldnt give me enough miles so he was trying to get me the most possible. The brightside of the planners they like me and give me miles since im always ready to go sleeping at the dc, 6 drivers tomorrow are on standby. So tomorrow Grenada Hills with a Yussen and then a local store that doesnt have to be delivered until 3am with a sweep going back to the dc, I will be able to handle all that easy even if a load is late. The store that canceled I didnt have time for a Yussen since it was supposed to be delivered by 21:00.

its nice having my car at the dc, I ran and did some grocery shopping then went back and loaded my truck and parked for the night.
