At a J off the 395 in WA.

I picked up a load in Spokane, headed to Toledo, OR tomorrow.

A load of paper for recycling.
It was a pretty small place, but a very easy pick up. Drive around back, drop the mt behind the pre-loaded, hook it up, go back in to scale with their scale, and go.

I mentioned to the girl in the office that I wished every pick up was this easy.
She told me that it was nice to hear, since most Swift drivers complain and even refuse to use their scale, in favor of a 'real' truck stop scale.
She also mentioned that the scale was replaced a year ago, and they get it certified every 3 months, since they do business by weight and don't want any mistakes on either end.

I didn't even have to slide the tandems. As is, in the 9th hole, I had 33k on the rear and 31.5 on the drives.
It took all of 1/2 hour in total, but it did involve an easy right side parallel to get the mt behind the loaded. Also freeing up and moving the blocks of wood under the landing gear (they were frozen to the ground).
And they do require mt's that are less than 10 years old, so I had to swap my older trailer at the drop yard 4 miles away.
No biggie, since I was dispatched there for a trailer move before I got this load.
And a pre-loaded at a place like that is rare indeed.

But really, most other drivers complaining about this kind of easy pick up?
    I don't get it.

At the Boise Stage Stop. Decent restuarant, hopefully the showers are as nice.

Had quite the day. First my Qualcom goes TU, NONE of the buttons or keyboard would do a thing. At least the touch screen was working so I used the on-screen keyboard. On a whim I did a "cold start" and that fixed it, go figure. Then my Garmin locks up, totally frozen, won't even shut off. Managed to fix that as well. Oh, and when I get to the shipper I find out that Swift never actually made a pickup appointment. They were slow and the customer was important so they loaded me anyway.

After I entered Oregon I checked 511 and was suprised to hear that chains were required up Cabbage and down Mecham. Since I was about 40 miles away on dry roadway I continued. Sure enough just before the turnoff for the Wild Horse Casino the flashing chains required sign was out. Since it was only 11:00 am and I could see the top of Cabbage (no clouds, no snow) I bailed off of I-84 and decided to wait it out. The travel center was a nightmare so I headed down to the Wild Horse parking when I managed a blind-side back in a crowded parking lot. 1 hr 15 mins later they lifted the chain requirement and I took off. Problem is so did every other truck with a working CB and/or Smart Phone. There was absolutely no snow or ice in either of the 2 right lanes up Cabbage and Mecham was actually dry and dusty. Guess that's above my pay grade.

Headed for El Paso and starting to like my Friday afternoon delivery appointment.

Were we in the same swift class? Phoenix February/march 2009? I think I'm the only survivor of that class.......

At the TA in Rawlins, WY. After the last couple Love's showers, the TA shower was a slice of heaven. :)

Took a load of paper from Baton Rouge to Denver. Spent last night at the tiny Love's in Lamar, CO. Went to sleep with dry roads; woke up at 4:30 AM with about five inches of global warming on the ground. The plow had been through, and I figured no traffic at that time of day, so I got some "driving on packed snow" practice. By 6, the salt shakers had been doing their thing, so the roads were pretty much wet.

And then I hit Denver. At 8 AM.

Even though the roads were wet, these people acted like Florida people during a blizzard. Either that, or they really wanted to keep checking their brakes. Got to the 90 about 90 minutes later than I had hoped, but the guy must have had jet fuel in his fork lift, since he had me unloaded in less than 30 minutes. Stretched it out to get my 30, then down the road 15 miles (via a fuel stop) to D&H a load of flour. Full tanks, full trailer, 79500 on the scale with me NOT in the truck... Since I weigh less than 500, I was good to go. :)

Two days on US 287 northbound, from Amarillo to Rawlins. I-80 to the 90 in SLC, then to the yard for a 34 and some truck work done (hopefully).

Watching the weather channel, and I am so glad that right now I am sitting here and not heading up into the Midwest. Back home is getting nailed. Cinci is up for a few hours of freezing rain before it changes over to snow, and at home already 4 inches in 3 hours, and more on its way. Even in El Paso, tonight 32 and tomorrow only 55. Still like this better.
