I don't know about these days , but in my day i changed my fuel filter everytime i fueled up as there was so much water in the diesel. Always had a couple spares in the side box too. Also make sure to fill up the fuel filter with fuel when you change it or if you run out.
Bingo's were bad about heating the fuel so you pumped 300 gal and then when it cooled down you might only have 275 in the tank.... They got busted and fined big time as i remember... I also aways carried tools and extra air line and parts so i could fix a blown air hose or replace lights or whatever on the road. If you need have a mechanic teach you how to change the ends on an air line or splice one. Comes in handy....

This is going to sound redundant to most experienced professional big rig truckers...
The problem with someone like me who has been driving however the hell he feels like it and getting away with it is that we become deaf to the language of the road. It is no longer about reading signs because signs are only one part of the whole language... the road is constantly talking... the u turns in the middle of the divide may mean more likelihood of police vehicles parked on the shoulder... that sign for a rest area an entrance with big rigs coming out of it... a hotel advertising an urban area approaching.... and what am I constantly consciously going to do about the possible set of circumstances...MUCH More important is what am I doing NOW. .. looking behind for a clearance... etc...
Reading a sign or looking far ahead does not work if I am not dedicated to using that information constantly. .. and that is an awareness of mind which I have a feeling most leisure drivers simply do not have because they do not need it as much...MAYBE????
You guys who train... think of the nucklehead...I mean...trainee as an undeveloped muscle...too sad its the brain muscle and that it might kill you...

This is for newbies like me... when going into a truck stop..
MAKE A CONSCIOUS NOTE OF HOW YOU GOT THERE did you go over the hwy... was there a stop sign orca light did you do a right or a left turn... your trainer will suspect mental retardation if you show the least bit of hesitation getting back on the road... he willb ask ic you are stupid... answer...Yes.

On weigh scales if you get pulled in... you will see little yellow signs that say stop... DO NOT BRAKE ON SCALES those signs are referring to another sign that will be on your left that will be an electronic sign that will say EITHER GO IN GREEN OR STOP IN RED.... but you roll really slow through the scale or terrifying things will happen to you

Your 13' 4" reefer trailer will not fit in a 12' 8" underpass... unless you're trying to get into flatbedding fast.
