lol, yep like the truck is going to make sooooo much more while I go get some sleep in the back and turn you loose to crash into something. But sure why not I’d love to live with a stranger in my truck and teach them everything and use my truck as a guinea pig so they can dip out and go out on their own after using up my resources and kindness. LOL

Okay, no lecture. I would give you a hack, a friend that’s owner op, fully independent with his own contracts in the NYC area, BUT…

    ….he would lecture you.

Insurance will kill you if you can find one that will insure you?. I am willing to bet a min of 30k a year in your area. This industry no disrespect intended will Chew you up and spit you out.
You tube trucking stars make it sound like easy money. Not only will this industry flip your personal life upside down for awhile. It’s more demanding than you think. Like having regular sleep patterns?, GONE.
Better like thriving on some stress. I think the industry average is 80% or more don’t make it the first year and give up on the industry.
It takes years to learn this industry and be somewhat proficient. Driving you may nail down quickly. But the regulations and rules are immense.
Building contacts and trust is another. You have to get insurance then the first 6 months you are going to struggle as a O/O most brokers and shippers won’t even look at someone new. If they do they are going to use and abuse you and kick you to the curb.
I am not lecturing I am straight out giving facts.
Good luck young man you are going to need it

Ah man, just do like everyone else and go to some mega outfit where the person training you has well over a month of experience and will have you drinking from a fire hydrant with their vast experience driving trucks.

You plan to buy a truck, so become a member of www.OOIDA.com which is a business website for the owner-operator.

What is it with all of the frackin newbies wanting free training and already planning to rip-off the company and run away? I'm sure if your ever have your own truck you won't mind someone stealing fuel out of your tanks just so his business plan works, right? At least have enough shame not to be proud of trying to be a thief.

You will never convince those people. You know....I've always wanted to be a Dentist. Does anybody know a Dentist that I can just hang around his office and sit in while he works on peoples teeth for a few weeks. I've been to the Dentist many times in 61 years. It really seems like an easy job to me. I'm too old to go to Dental School...... Plus that takes a real long time. I mean..... How hard can it really be??
